A new play about the late Italian actress Anna Magnani, MAMMA ROMA -- written and performed by Anne DeSalvo, winner of the Obie Award for her performance in GEMINI -- will be presented by Cherry Lane Theatre's MENTOR PROJECT from April 3 to 14 at Cherry Lane Studio Theatre (38 Commerce St.) in Manhattan. MAMMA ROMA is directed by Rob Urbinati. David Rambo (THE LADY WITH ALL THE ANSWERS) has been Ms. DeSalvo's mentor for the play.

BROADWAY ROX, a new concert event, recently played Queens Theatre (14 United Nations Avenue South in Flushing Meadows Corona Park). Produced by Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment, BROADWAY ROX celebrated the rock and pop hits of Broadway including songs from Wicked, Jersey Boys, Rent, The Who's Tommy, Mamma Mia, Spring Awakening, Hair, Rock of Ages, Jesus Christ Superstar and many more. The musical evening featured a 5 piece band with music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Jason Howland (composer of Little Women) and is directed by Rob Evan and Rich Affannato.

The New Actors Company in association with Neil McPherson for the Finborough Theatre presents THE GRAND DUKE. The Finborough Theatre's 'Celebrating British Music Theatre' series continues with the first fully staged professional UK production of Gilbert and Sullivan's final operetta, The Grand Duke, since the original 1896 production. It opens at the Finborough Theatre for a strictly limited run of six Sundays and Mondays from Sunday, 1 April 2012.

Youngsters will enjoy the award-winning Casey Carle in his one-man show, Bubblemania and will learn how to develop into an accomplished classical ballet dancer at The Beauty of Ballet, both part of the Queens Center Kids Series at Queens Theatre.

Eight playwrights combined with director, Ari Laura Kreith, in creating a new work inspired by Jackson Heights (Queens) in the wee hours of the morning. Livery cab drivers, police officers, sex workers, Colombian drag queens, Bangladeshi insomniacs, expatriate ER doctors, Ecuadorian waitresses and a baby awake in its stroller are among the characters whose experiences are chronicled in this multilingual (English, Spanish, Bengali) production which features a multicultural ensemble cast of 24.
