Netflix Announces New Original Content From India

Netflix concluded its inaugural content event in Asia, “See What's Next: Asia” with a celebration of the company's rapidly growing diverse content slate in India. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings and chief content officer Ted Sarandos joined performers and creators from India to announce eight original films and a new original series. The showcase also included updates on four Indian original series that were previously announced.

44 Blue Productions, the innovative and acclaimed independent production house that is part of Red Arrow Studios, has partnered with activist and social entrepreneur Topeka K. Sam, to develop both scripted and unscripted series inspired by her fight to change the culture of degradation, humiliation and unfair sentencing that surrounds female incarceration. Recently Topeka, who is the Founder and Executive Director of The Ladies of Hope Ministries, made headlines and garnered national attention after creating the video that went viral around the story of Alice Marie Johnson, and which inspired Kim Kardashian West to help secure clemency for Johnson after a visit to the White House.
The ABC Discovers: Digital Talent Competition is Now Live

ABC Talent and Casting's annual ABC Discovers: Digital Talent Competition, which takes place Monday, Sept. 10 – Monday, Sept. 24, is now live. The competition aims to discover and champion actors who may not have had the opportunity to be seen yet by a team of professional casting executives. In the U.S., actors 18 and older are encouraged to visit ABCDiscovers.com to enter the contest for the chance to receive a one-year $25,000 talent deal with ABC. The 2018 winner will be announced Wednesday, Nov. 14, when their videos will be featured on the ABC Discovers website. Based on the success of prior U.S. competitions, ABC launched a U.K. version of the competition at ABCDiscoversUK.com last year. This separate U.K. talent contest is also live now. The winner of the separate U.K. competition will also receive a one-year $25,000 talent deal with ABC.

Universal Indefinitely Delays Chris Pratt's COWBOY NINJA VIKING

Universal has removed the action film starring Chris Pratt, Cowboy Ninja Viking, from its release calendar one month before production was set to begin and delayed production indefinitely, according to Collider. The film still remains in active development.

Mara Isaacs, Director of Project Springboard: Developing Dance Musicals, today announced the recipients of the second annual residency awards: Bhangin' It, led by Rehana Mirza (co-book writer), Mike Lew (co-book writer), Sam Wilmott (composer/lyricist), Rujuta Vaidya (choreographer), and Amy Anders Corcoran (director); and The Night Falls, led by Troy Schumacher (director/choreographer, New York City Ballet soloist), Ellis Ludwig-Leone (composer/co-lyricist), and Karen Russell (book writer/co-lyricist, MacArthur Award winner and Pulitzer finalist). Both projects will be in residence June 4-22, 2018 in New York City.

TIME has just revealed the 2018 TIME 100, its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. The issue has six worldwide covers, each highlighting a member of the TIME 100: Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman, Roger Federer, Tarana Burke, Satya Nadella, and Tiffany Haddish.
Also included in this year's list are stage and screen star Hugh Jackman and Broadway/West End producer Sonia Friedman.
BOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD Comes To New Jersey Performing Arts Center

Bollywood Boulevard: A Journey Through Hindi Cinema, created by MELA Productions in association with Aaditaal Music Project, attracted over 4,000 patrons for its premiere at Lincoln Center 'Out of Doors' series in the summer of 2017. The show now comes to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center for two performances only on February 24th.
