Universal Indefinitely Delays Chris Pratt's COWBOY NINJA VIKING

Universal has removed the action film starring Chris Pratt, Cowboy Ninja Viking, from its release calendar one month before production was set to begin and delayed production indefinitely, according to Collider. The film still remains in active development.

The film is based on the Image Comics graphic novel by AJ Lieberman and illustrator Riley Rossmo. Pratt is attached to play Duncan, a new kind of assassin who manifests the toughest skills of three different personas - a cowboy, a ninja and a viking. Priyanka Chopra was in talks to play Pratt's co-star. Game of Thrones' Michelle MacLaren was set to make her feature directorial debut with the film, and she remains attached amid the delays. The most recent draft of the script was written by Dan Mazeau and Ryan Engle.

Cowboy Ninja Viking was been in pre-production when Universal ended discussions with potential supporting cast. The film was expected to have a release date of June 28, 2019. Pratt is still producing the project with Michael De Luca, Mark Gordon and Entertainment 360. Universal is expected to re-date the project at a later time.
