Encompass New Opera Theatre will present the world premiere of Anna Christie with music by Edward Thomas set to a libretto by Joseph Masteroff, beginning on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 8pm, running through Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the Baruch Performing Arts Center (at 55 Lexington Avenue, entrance on 25th Street, between Lexington and Third Avenues). 

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music celebrates the 50th anniversary of its legendary Musical Theatre program with a Birthday Cabaret at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018 in Patricia Corbett Theater. Featuring the program's first graduate Pamela Myers, our newest stars of tomorrow and star performers from Broadway and beyond, the Birthday Cabaret promises to be a tuneful and invigorating tribute to 50 years of CCM Musical Theatre excellence.

Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, is presenting In Conversation: Jason Alexander, on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 7:30PM.  This event will give audiences a behind-the-curtain look at Native Gardens, a new comedy by Karen Zacarias and directed by Mr. Alexander that will be performed at the Playhouse September 5 through 30.

Albuquerque Little Theatre presents Kaye Ballard - The Show Goes On . In a special event on Sunday July 29th at 3:00 pm, the biopic of Kaye Ballard - a stage and screen actress who performed with Big Bands, on Broadway, on television, and in movies - will be screened. Ninety-two-year-old Ballard is known for a varied career as an actress and singer, spanning over seventy years. The film, which is presented by Jim Dandy Films, is intended to be a celebration of this incredible actress' life and career. Kaye Ballard - The Show Goes On includes appearances by : Ann Margaret, Joy Behar, Carol Burnett, Carol Channing, Elaine Page, Hal Prince, and many more! The biopic is produced and directed by Dan Wingate, co-produced by Clark Bason, with executive producers Jim Pierson & Hal Wing.

An Evening of Classic Broadway returns Monday, August 6th at 8PM (doors 6:30) to Rockwell Table and Stage.

Opera Australia Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini, Australian impresario John Frost and leading UK theatre producer David Ian today announced the 18 young performers who have been cast in the upcoming production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's EVITA at the Sydney Opera House from September. Three sets of six children will alternate in ensemble roles.

Before now, eighteen different men have fallen for Christine as the Vicomte de Chagny. Nineteenth in line is Jay Armstrong Johnson, who earlier this summer officially took over the role of 'Raoul' in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, succeeding Rodney Ingram, who played the role for over 400 performances.

Los Altos Hills will be alive with The Sound of Music this summer, when multi-award winning Foothill Music Theatre presents the Tony, Grammy, and Academy Award-winning musical. This beloved musical, set in Austria in 1938, follows novice Maria Rainer who becomes the governess for the von Trapp family, capturing the hearts of the seven children and their father, a widowed naval captain. As the Nazis occupy Austria, the family is forced make decisions which forever change their lives, fleeing their home in pursuit of freedom. Director Milissa Carey, music director William Liberatore, and choreographers Brett and C.J. Just over a month ago, Orin Wolf was celebrating a whooping ten Tony wins for his little musical that could- The Band's Visit. As the big winner at the 72nd Annual Tony Awards on June 10, the new show not only swept the ceremony, but it found a place in history with some of Broadway's most awarded musicals- a producer's dream.

National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) today announced that the highly anticipated American premiere of the Yiddish language Fiddler on the Roof, which began preview PERFORMANCES Off Broadway at the Museum of Jewish Heritage last week, will extend its run for an additional week through September 2 due to demand for tickets. The Press Opening takes place Sunday, July 15 and a VIP gala performance on Monday, July 16. Helmed by Academy Award and Tony Award winner Joel Grey, the acclaimed musical is being presented now for an 9-week limited engagement through September 2.

To commemorate the reopening of one of the most storied venues in theatrical history, Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) just shared a collection of reflections and anecdotes from Broadway and Hollywood personalities that celebrate the history of Boston's historic Emerson Colonial Theatre. Following a refurbishment by ATG over the past two years, the theatre reopened last night with the first preview performance of the pre-Broadway world premiere engagement of Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

TODAY's Al Roker sat down with award-winning actress Rita Moreno to talk about her iconic roles, including her breakout in "West Side Story."
