After a government mandate and Covid-19 safety concerns shut down theatrical productions on its stage for two years, Penguin Rep Theatre will resume presenting plays, comedies and musical revues starting mid-March, artistic director Joe Brancato announced today.

The Musical Theatre Guild will be presenting for one-night only A Sondheim Birthday Celebration Live! Laugh! Love! on Stephen Sondheim’s birthday March 22nd at The El Portal Theatre. Jason Graae hosts the Celebration featuring Musical Theatre Guild members with special guest, Stephen Sondheim veteran Teri Ralston. I got to playfully rouse Teri to reminisce about her decades’ history with Stephen Sondheim.

Lyrics and Lyricists 50th anniversary season opens with David Loud: Facing the Music on March 19, 20 and 21, celebrating the career of the renowned Broadway music director. Filled with astonishing stories, collected during his 34 years of working on Broadway, his perspective on musical theater, which includes both the view from the orchestra pit and from the stage, is wry, compassionate, and funny.

This Broadway and cabaret star will debut a new show To Steve With Love: Liz Callaway Celebrates Sondheim, honoring the legacy of Stephen Sondheim on March 23-26 at 7pm. Tickets start at $65.

On December 22 (9pm on CBS), five Honorees will receive the 44th Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime artistic achievements. Plenty of Broadway babies have been honored at past ceremonies and the best of Broadway makes the trip to DC to tribute them. Check out just a few of our favorites.

For three already sold-out performances, Broadway star Michele McConnell will appear with the Palm Springs Gay Men's Chorus (PSGMC), in the chorus's holiday show, SPARKLE, TWINKLE, JINGLE!, at the Palm Springs Art Museum's Annenberg Theater. Performances will take place Friday and Saturday, December 10th & 11th at 7 p.m., and Sunday, December 12th at 3 p.m.

 A Little Night Music, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, will be presented in as part of Barrington Stage Company's 2022 season.

Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts will present the annual Atlantic Wind Holiday Concert on Monday, November 29 at 7:00pm.
