The Central Works 2017 season concludes this Fall with Strange Ladies by Susan Sobeloff opening with a press night on Saturday October 14 running through November 12 (previews Oct 12 & 13) at the renowned Berkeley City Club. Strange Ladies is a Central Works Method Musical inspired by the Suffrage movement. The production is told with music of the period under the musical direction of Milissa Carey. 1917: a diverse group of Suffragists are fighting to gain the vote for women as the US entered World War I. Torn between loyalty to their political cause and loyalty to the war effort, these women each struggle to make difficult choices in a time of tremendous social upheaval. The personal pits each against the political in Strange Ladies.

Backstage Bistro Award-winning recording artist and Broadway actress Rebecca Spencer (JEKYLL AND HYDE, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA) has announced a September 22, 2017 release date for her third recording on the LML Music label, entitled STILL, STILL, STILL.

Jessica Molaskey, the acclaimed actress and singer, will present the concert Portraits of Joni - to celebrate the new album from Ghostlight Deluxe - at Birdland Jazz Club (315 West 44th Street in New York) on Monday, September 18 at 7:00 PM.

Harold Prince is a legend in the American theatre. As an acclaimed director and producer behind a long list of America's most iconic musicals including West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret, Evita, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, The Phantom of the Opera and more, Hal has certainly earned his place in the pantheon of Broadway greats and then some. Now, he's bringing together six decades of magical moments in a new musical event, Prince of Broadway.

The Lambs, America's first professional theater club and one of the oldest professional theatrical organizations in the U.S., marked its 90-year association with Sardi's proclaiming it the Club's favorite watering hole...outside The Lambs. Evans, presents the Chicago Premiere of The Legend of Georgia McBride, written by Matthew Lopez, directed by Lauren Shouse. The Legend of Georgia McBride runs September 14-October 22at Northlight Theatre, 9501 Skokie Blvd in Skokie. The press performance is Friday, September 22 at 8:00pm.

The full cast for the Harold Prince-directed production of EVITA in South Africa has been announced. Presented by Pieter Toerien and David Ian, this revival of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic musical will see the original West End and Broadway production presented on stage at The Teatro at Montecasino and the Artscape Opera House later this year.

I would love to have been a fly on the wall as Stephen Sondheim and Hal Prince collaborated on Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Maybe one of them said, "what's the darkest topic we could tackle that will allow us to incorporate gorgeous musicality?"

Age doesn't stand a chance of catching up with the busy and multi-talented Linda Lavin. Ms. Lavin is in Los Angeles to film a new sitcom, but will fly to Cape Cod this weekend for two nights of concerts at Provincetown's Crown and Anchor.
