Playwright Zayd Dohrn Returns to Chautauqua Theater Company with THE PROFANE

Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC) and the Chautauqua Writers' Center have proudly partnered on their third new play commission, coming July 22 to the Bratton Theater stage.  This year's commission, The Profane, is written by the celebrated CTC New Play Workshop alum Zayd Dohrn (Sick - 2008, Muckrakers - 2012).  Directed by CTC Artistic Director Vivienne Benesch and playing July 22 - 31 at the Chautauqua Institution. Tickets are $35 and are currently on sale.

Botanicum Seedlings: A Development Series for Playwrights - This summer, Theatricum's Botanicum Seedlings celebrates its 15th anniversary with readings of two new plays about families dealing with contemporary issues that hit home in unexpected ways. Admission is free.

Nine Shows Extended at New York Musical Festival

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF), previously known as The New York Musical Theater Festival, has announced extensions for nine productions - A SCYTHE OF TIME, LISA AND LEONARDO, CHILDREN OF SALT, EH DAH? QUESTIONS FOR MY FATHER, TINK!, DUST CAN'T KILL ME, SINGLE, NEWTON'S CADLE and CAMP ROLLING HILLS.

Photo Flash: Sneak Peek - MEN ON BOATS Begins Tonight at Playwrights Horizons

MEN ON BOATS, the critically-acclaimed comedy which premiered at Clubbed Thumb's 2015 Summerworks Festival, returns this summer in a co-production by Clubbed Thumb and Playwrights Horizons. Written by Jaclyn Backhaus and directed by American Theater Company Artistic Director Will Davis, MEN ON BOATS will move uptown to Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street) for a four-week limited engagement tonight, July 20 through Sunday, August 14. First Floor Theater to Remount THE AWAKE at Theater on the Lake

First Floor Theater (FFT) is thrilled to remount THE AWAKE, Ken Urban's lyrical and highly theatrical exploration of interrogation, government control, and the compulsive power of dreams, directed by Josh Altman, as part of the Chicago Park District's Theater on the Lake 2016 Festival Season at the Berger Park Cultural Center.

Sigourney Weaver to Receive 2016 Donostia Award at San Sebastian Festival

Weaver will receive a Donostia Award at the gala screening of the film on September 21st in the Kursaal Auditorium. The Festival's most important honorary award acknowledges the career of the North American actress whose name has presided over some of the biggest productions in the last few decades

THE MAY QUEEN at The Cape Playhouse

The May Queen, the sassy, new office comedy, has its Cape Playhouse premiere as the fourth play in in the historic theatre's 90th anniversary season. Directed by Amanda Charlton, it plays a two week engagement, July 26 - August 6; press night is set for Tuesday, July 26 at 7:30 pm.

April Matthis to Receive 2016 Ruth Maleczech Award

Actor/performer April Matthis is the recipient of the 2016 Ruth Maleczech Award, created last year to honor the memory of the legendary and beloved downtown actress and director who passed away in 2013. The award ceremony takes place on July 26 at 7pm at the Howl! Happening: An Arturo Vega Project gallery in the East Village.
