The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will open the world premiere of Idris Goodwin's The Way the Mountain Moved, directed by May Adrales, on July 14 in the Thomas Theatre. Preview performances are July 10, 12 and 13, and the play runs through Oct. 28, 2018.

Eight outstanding educators from schools and performing arts centers around the U.S. will work one-on-one with Broadway greats at the 9th Annual FREDDIE G FELLOWSHIP July 11th - 14th. The event has once again been underwritten by Myrna and Freddie ("G") Gershon, Co-Chairman of the global theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI). The four days of classes and activities honor instructors and teachers who are working to make a difference for their students and communities through the process of staging musical theatre productions in their schools and educational theatre groups. In addition to the all-expense paid visit to New York, each of the teachers' schools receives $5,000 from Freddie and Myrna. The teachers are empowered to identify and select how their respective school's theatre program can best utilize the funds.

In a savvy marketing move and perfect way to kick off the summer theatre season, Mason Street Warehouse (MSW) at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts opened with the get-happy, ABBA-tribute musical Mamma Mia! now playing at MSW through July 15.  Once you've enjoyed it live-and-in-person at Mason Street Warehouse you can head to the movie theatre on July 20 for the Mamma Mia! movie sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

Sascha Radetsky has been named Artistic Director of ABT Studio Company. It was announced today by American Ballet Theatre Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. Radetsky succeeds Kate Lydon, who joins St. Paul's School as the director of dance at the start of the 2018-19 academic year. Lydon has served as ABT Studio Company Artistic Director since 2013.

Corkscrew Theater Festival presents Desarrollo, written by Juliany Taveras and directed by Manny Rivera. Running July 27-August 5, Desarrollo follows three queer and trans Bronx natives as they grow from exuberant 13-year olds to yearning, unmoored young adults. The creative team and cast consists entirely of queer and trans people of color, bringing the sights and sounds of the Bronx to the stage while wrestling with the disorienting changes that gentrification has brought to the neighborhood.

National Alliance for Musical Theatre (Betsy King Militello, Executive Director) is thrilled to announce the line-up of new musicals for their 30th Annual FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS, which takes place on Thursday, October 25 and Friday, October 26, 2018 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). The Festival events will kick off on Monday, October 22 with Thank You, 30!, a gala event to celebrate the 30th Annual Festival.

Long Island's newest theatrical venue The Argyle Theatre (Evan Pappas, Artistic Director) presents the Tony Award winning hit Broadway musical Hairspray with book by Marc O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman at The Argyle Theatre (34 West Main Street, Babylon, Long Island).  Performances are set to begin Thursday, July 12, 2018 for a limited run through Sunday, August 26, 2018. 

Through a combination of both some old fashion singing and dancing and modern special effects, the show promises something for everyone.

Corkscrew Theater Festival presents delicacy of a puffin heart, written by Stefani Kuo and directed by Theo Maltz. Running July 25-August 5, delicacy of a puffin heart traces the stories of two pairs of immigrant/first generation women living in the same San Francisco apartment, twenty years apart: in the 1990s, a lesbian couple hoping to have a child, and in the present, their adult daughter living with her best friend. Both pairs of women struggle to maintain their intimate connection while facing mental and physical illness. Performed by Dominique Brillon, Diane Chen, Cleo Gray, Drita Kabashi, and O'mer Koren, delicacy of a puffin heart is the fourth production in the second annual season of Corkscrew Theater Festival, a new summer theater festival that provides early-career artists with a high level of production support.

The winners of the 24th Annual Communicator Awards have officially been announced by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA). With over 6,000 entries received from across the United States and around the world, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals.

The Utah Symphony presents Disney in Concert on July 6th, at 7:30 pm at the Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater. Corkscrew Theater Festival presents Pie Shop Play, written by Alice Pencavel and directed by Sivan Battat. Running July 20-29, Pie Shop Play concerns two sisters whose big dreams are derailed when the pipes in their pie shop burst, leaking toxic unknowns that rob them of coherent speech. As the shop slowly floods, buried trauma, and secrets pour forth as well, forcing the sisters to work it out (through garbled English) before they drown. Performed by Devin Kessler, Futaba Shioda*, Kaylee Simonson, Eliza Simpson*, and Madame Vivien V, Pie Shop Play is the third production in the second annual season of Corkscrew Theater Festival, a new summer theater festival that provides early-career artists with a high level of production support.
