VocalEssence Moves Performance Location Due to Unresolved Labor Disputes of Minnesota Orchestra

VocalEssence announces today that it is moving the first concert of its 45th season, There Was a Child, to Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. The concert will still be held at its original time, on Sun., Oct. 27 at 4 p.m., and the 3 p.m. Concert Conversation with MPR's John Birge and composer Jonathan Dove will still take place before the performance.

2011 MacArthur Fellow Francisco J. Núñez Leads Transient Glory Symposium

Eight conducting fellows from across the U.S. and Canada have been selected by the Carnegie Hall Choral Institute and the Young People's Chorus of New York City to take part in the Transient Glory Symposium, led by 2011 MacArthur Fellow and symposium artistic director Francisico J. Núñez, which from February 15 to 18, will provide three days of intensive training workshops and performances of new music commissioned for young voices for the Transient Glory series.

Fox Theatre Presents A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION, 5/7

Public radio station Michigan Radio (91.7 FM Ann Arbor/Detroit) and Olympia Entertainment will present a live performance of A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor from Detroit on Saturday, May 7 at 5:45 p.m. The celebrated radio variety show, produced by Prairie Home Productions and presented and distributed by American Public Media, will take the stage at the historic Fox Theatre for a live, national broadcast.
