"...a marvel of balletic storytelling..."
Mike Steele - Star Tribune

"This 'Nutcracker,' even after 46 years, hasn't lost its luster"
Rick Nelson - Star Tribune

Fueled by Tchaikovsky and filled with lovely dancing, MDT's "Nutcracker Fantasy" is a dashing holiday treat.

Once again, imaginative minds everywhere are flocking to the 19th century town of Nuremberg. Where snowflakes fall gently onto gingerbread houses and cobblestone streets, awash in the glow of street lamps. Where childhood anticipation fills the air. And where a gift from a certain wizardly godfather creates a magical fantasy in the eyes of a little girl.

As toys come to life, and party guests are transformed into extraordinary characters, Marie begins her journey to the Land of Sweets with her Nutcracker Prince.

Come be enthralled by the Sugarplum Fairy, delight in the drama of the wicked Rat Queen, and let the hilarious Madame Bonbonniere enchant you, just as this cast of characters enchants young Marie.

Choreographed by Minnesota Dance Theatre's founder Loyce Houlton and featuring a 44-piece symphony orchestra conducted by Philip Brunelle, this time honored classic ballet holds the distinction of being the longest running arts event in Minnesota history!
