Five-time Obie Award-winning theater company Clubbed Thumb has announced initial casting for SUMMERWORKS, its annual series of new plays.

Golden Boy of the Blue Ridge runs in Lexington at the Downtown Arts Center beginning today, April 22, and continues through May 1.

The Fred Ebb Foundation, in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company, will present the twelfth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters.  Applications for the award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, will be accepted from June 1- 30, 2016.  The winner will be selected in November of 2016.  Eligibility criteria and Application forms can be found at the foundations website: www.fredebbfoundation.org.

The Shaw Festival's 55th season begins Saturday at 2 p.m. with the first preview of Thornton Wilder's beloved play Our Town. Molly Smith, artistic director of Washington, D.C's Tony award-winning Arena Stage, returns to The Shaw to breathe vivid, new life into this classic piece of theatre - a talent she displayed so brilliantly in her production of My Fair Lady in 2011.

AthensWest concludes its inaugural season with the hilarious musical comedy Golden Boy of the Blue Ridge. Based on J.M. Synge's classic comedy The Playboy of the Western World, this toe tappin', banjo-pickin' adaptation is by Peter Mills and Cara Reichel. It played Off-Broadway, and has since made the rounds in regional theatre. Golden Boy of the Blue Ridge runs in Lexington at the Downtown Arts Center April 22-May 1.

The new musical is inspired by the life of visionary composer, and murderer, Carlo Gesualdo.

This April, Feinstein's/54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, presents some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz and beyond.

This just in! BroadwayWorld has just learned that THE HONEYMOONERS, with a book by Dusty Kay and Bill Nuss, Music by Stephen Weiner, and Lyrics by Peter Mills, is another step closer to Broadway.

Last Friday night, Adam Gopnik and Melissa Errico entertained at one of the most exciting new performance spaces in Brooklyn called National Sawdust+, already celebrated for its innovative programming. Recent performances featured Julie Taymor and Renee Fleming, and upcoming is a an evening with Patti Smith and a Celebration of Laura Nyro (which will feature Melissa Errico and Jeanine Tesori, directed by Michael Mayer). Prospect Theater Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Cara Reichel and Managing Director Melissa Huber, has announced that due to a scheduling conflict Nathan Gardner will replace the previously announced Jason Gotay in the principal role of Carlo Gesualdo for the premiere of Death for Five Voices from March 24 - April 17, at The Sheen Center, 18 Bleecker Street, NYC.

New Ohio Theatre presents the world premiere of Glass Bandits Theater Company's AN INTIMATE EVENING WITH TYPHOID MARY, written by Carl Holder and directed by Knud Adams, which begins performances tonight, March 18, and continues through Saturday, March 26 at the New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street between Greenwich and Washington Streets).

On Friday, March 11, Kentwood Players welcomed the multiple Tony Award winning musical "MAN OF LA MANCHA" with Book by Dale Wasserman, Music by Mitch Leigh and Lyrics by Joe Darion to the Westchester Playhouse where performances will continue through April 16. The production is directed by Susan Goldman Weisbarth with Musical Director Mike Walker and Choreographer Drew Fitzsimmons, produced by Margie Bates and Gail Bernardi by special arrangement with Tams Witmark Music Library. ?Tony Award-nominated singer & actress Melissa Errico (who is performing tonight at Lincoln Center's Spotlight on Judy Garland Event - The History of the World in 100 Performances Moderated by Adam Gopnik & radio host Jonathan Schwartz) will return to Feinstein's/54 Below (254 W. 54th St.) for two concert performances on Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2 at 7pm.
