Duncan Sheik the Grammy and Tony Award-winning artist made his Cafe Carlyle debut last night and BroadwayWorld was there. Sheik launched his career in 1996 with his Grammy nominated self-titled debut album. Sheik is the composer for the critically acclaimed musical Spring Awakening, which went on to win eight Tony Awards in 2007, including awards for Best Orchestrations and Best Original Score. The album earned Sheik a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.

The world premiere of Paul Rudnick's new play 'Big Night' opened Saturday, September 16 at 8 p.m. at Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. 'It's a warhorse and has been a guaranteed sellout since 1950, but that doesn't mean a production doesn't need a little spark. DJ [Salisbury] did exactly what I asked him to do,' says Maine State Music Theatre's Artistic Director Curt Dale Clark.
