The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) today announced the complete schedule for the 2009 Festival, which will begin September 28th and continue through October 18th. A full breakdown of this year's performances and venues follows.

Coming off a successful two-week run, Mile Square Theatre's production of My Italy Story returns by popular demand, in conjunction with St. Ann's Feast, Hoboken'sannual Italian-American festival, presented by St. Ann's Parish.

The Theatre World Awards presentation were held at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, 261 West 47th Street, in an invitation-only ceremony, Tuesday, June 2, 2009. Peter Filichia was host, Barry Keating directed, and Scott Denny, Kati Meister, and Erin Oestreich were the event's producers. The 65th annual Theatre World Award winners for Outstanding Broadway or Off-Broadway Debut Performances during the 2008-2009 theatrical season are...

OBIE winner Donna Lynne Champlin, who starred in the Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd, as well as James Joyce's The Dead, By Jeeves and Hollywood Arms, will perform her one-woman show, Finishing the Hat, as a benefit for the Drama Desk Award-winning, off-Broadway theatre company, Transport Group, on Monday, May 11, at 7:00pm, at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, 407 West 42 Street, at Ninth Avenue.

The 2009 Original Cast Recording of the critically-acclaimed Off-Broadway musical The Toxic Avenger, captured on disc by Time Life, is now available in stores and online as of today, Tuesday, May 5th. Although the disc was available for purchase at the theatre on opening night (March 18), its official release is marked today. The disc contains sixteen (16) 'Toxic Tracks' including a bonus cut performed by David Bryan.

Awards were handed out for 14 categories and 2 special awards are announced by the Off-Broadway League for the Lucille Lortel Awards recognizing Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. This year?s ceremony benefits The Actors Fund. A list of nominees follows below.

Kristen Johnston will co-host the 2009 Lucille Lortel Awards, trade paper Variety reports. Presenters at the ceremony will include Jeremy Irons, Parker Posey, Kerry Butler, John Glover, Marsha Mason and Phyllis Newman, amongst others.

The Toxic Avenger, the brand new musical about New Jersey's first superhero, features a score by Bon Jovi's David Bryan and Joe Di Pietro. The cast includes Nancy Opel, Sara Chase, Nick Cordero, Demond Green and Matthew Saldivar. Tony Award-winner John Rando directs. The Toxic Avenger began performances on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street). Opening Night is tonight, Monday, April 6th.
