Ready or not, here comes Imelda! Gypsy's long overdue to the West End is a no-holds-barred triumph, with a talented cast led by powerhouse Imelda Staunton, immaculate direction and precise design. It is hard to imagine theatre better than this.

Gypsy opened in the West End last night, Tuesday 15 April 2015 at the Savoy Theatre, London. Directed by Jonathan Kent with book by Arthur Laurents, Gypsy has music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim suggested by the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, choreography by Stephen Mear, designs by Anthony Ward, musical direction and orchestration by Nicholas Skilbeck, lighting by Mark Henderson and sound by Paul Groothuis.

The first production to be seen in London for forty years in a strictly limited season, GYPSY opens at the Savoy Theatre tonight 15 April 2015. Imelda Staunton, who stars as the indomitable Momma Rose in the West End transfer of Jonathan Kent's production of GYPSY, is joined by Lara Pulver and Gemma Sutton, who reprise the roles of Louise and June respectively in the five star Chichester Festival Theatre production, while Peter Davison joins the cast to play Herbie.

THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG Extends Into 2016

Olivier Award-nominated The Play That Goes Wrong today announces that it will extend its run for a second time, until 14 February 2016. The smash hit comedy, currently playing at the Duchess Theatre, has also added the 14 February 2016 performance for those that would like to book ahead - but with tickets remaining at 2015 prices.
San Francisco Opera's SHOW BOAT, Starring Harriet Harris & Bill Irwin, Coming to the Big Screen

Rising Alternative today announced that San Francisco Opera's critically acclaimed production of SHOW BOAT will be screened in movie theatres across the country this summer. San Francisco Opera's production of the Broadway classic, which features music by Jerome Kern and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, opened in June of 2014, and is directed by theater and opera director Francesca Zambello.

Choreographer Jeanette Stoner, known for her very individual sense of dance/theater, often using the spoken word, will present her Jeanette Stoner and Dancers in two world premieres and repertory, performed by an ensemble of artists who have worked with Stoner over the years and are mature interpreters of her vision. Noted choreographer Zvi Gotheiner, who has created the lighting for the Company for years, also returns as lighting designer. Four performances in the Stoner Loft, 83 Leonard Street (#1 train to Franklin, loft is on Leonard between Broadway and Church), Saturday through Tuesday, May 2-5 at 8 PM.

The cast also features Dan Burton as Tulsa, Billy Hartman as Uncle Jocko, Jack Chissick as Mr Goldstone, Anita Louise Combe as Tessie Tura, Harry Dickman as Pop, Lucinda Shaw as Mother, Roger Dipper as L.A., Louise Gold as Mazeppa, Clare Halse as Majorie May, Tom Hodgkins as Mr Weber, Kieran Jae as Yonkers, Julie Legrand as Electra, Danielle Morris as Geraldine, Luke Street as Little Rock, Damien Poole as Kansas, Lauren Hall as Delores and Natalie Woods as Agnes. Ensemble members include Liz Ewing, Lauren Ingram, Tom Murphy and Phillip Catchpole. The casting of the roles of Baby June and Baby Louise will be announced shortly.
