PBS announced today the broadcast premiere dates for the diverse slate of performing arts specials that will air as part of the 2016 PBS Arts Fall Festival.
Casting has been announced for THE AMERICAN WIFE, a new thriller coming to Park Theatre from 7 September - 1 October. Looking at the real human cost behind the war on terror and myriads of misinformation, the full cast includes: Julia Eringer, Vidal Sancho, George Taylor, Emilio Doorgasingh, Mitchell Mullen, Anne Wittman, Sanee Raval, Sophie Angelson, Lucia Henry Peragine and Sascha Petrou. The Press Night is Friday 9 September, 7pm.

At a ceremony held today at London's Café de Paris, Steve Furst announced the nominees for the 16th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards. The announcement of the nominations marks the opening of the final voting stage (closes 31 January), with winners announced at the annual Awards Concert held on 21 February 2016 at the Prince of Wales Theatre.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, plans have been underway for the BBC to film the London production of Gypsy this month, and now the news is official. According to the theatre's official Facebook page, equipment is in place to record the show for a later broadcast .

Following a second set of five-star reviews, producers Michael Harrison and David Ian announced an extension to the West End run in April.

In an unprecedented collaboration, the Louis Armstrong House Museum in New York City and the Louisiana State Museum in New Orleans have partnered on the exhibit: Satchmo: His Life in New Orleans to tell the story of Louis Armstrong's complex relationship with his hometown. The exhibit will coincide with the 100th anniversary of his first professional gig at Henry Ponce's in New Orleans in 1915.
Choreographer Jeanette Stoner, known for her very individual sense of dance/theater, often using the spoken word, will present her Jeanette Stoner and Dancers in two world premieres and repertory, performed by an ensemble of artists who have worked with Stoner over the years and are mature interpreters of her vision. Noted choreographer Zvi Gotheiner, who has created the lighting for the Company for years, also returns as lighting designer. Producers Michael Harrison and David Ian today announce that Jonathan Kent's 5 star production of Gypsy starring Imelda Staunton has smashed the all time box office record at the Savoy Theatre taking £408,300 for performances ending 25 April 2015. Harrison and Ian said: 'We are thrilled that this amazing record has been achieved in the 1089 seat Savoy Theatre and are delighted that we have been able to extend our run through November this year.'
The new West End GYPSY cast recording, featuring Imelda Staunton and Lara Pulver, is available today, April 27, 2015. First Night Records releases the album on digital and retail, with copies also available at the Savoy Theatre.
