The acclaimed new American play PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, by Tony Award nominee Rick Elice, directed by Tony Award-winner Roger Rees and Drama Desk Award-winner and Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), began preview performances on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street) on Wednesday, March 28. Many people may be familiar with the work of Basil Twist and not even know it. You may have seen his handiwork on Broadway in The Pee Wee Herman Show or The Addams Family. He was also a consultant on the film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Mr. Twist is not only a master puppeteer but a master of special effects. He brings all of his talent and ingenuity to his production of Petrushka, as presented by Shakespeare Theatre.

The 15th and grand finale edition of THE BROADWAY BEARS, the annual auction of handmade, one-of-a-kind, theatrically costumed teddy bears, raised a record-setting $198,300 on Sunday, benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Broadway lovers and teddy bear collectors came together yesterday, March 18 at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill (237 West 42nd Street) for one last time to bid on - and bid adieu to - museum-quality bears representing legendary theatrical characters and autographed by the stars who made those characters famous. The cumulative fundraising total for the 15 editions of THE BROADWAY BEARS auctions is a remarkable $2,048,427. The previous fund-raising record was $170,000 set in 2002.

Apollo Theatre Celebrates Women's History Month

In celebration of Women's History Month, the Apollo Theater will host Behind the Scenes: Women in Theatre on Monday, March 12. The free panel, which focuses on women's careers in the theatrical industry, is presented by the Apollo Theater Education Program, the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, The Broadway League and the League of Professional Theatre Women, as part of the "Made in NY" Industry Series. The panel begins at 6:30p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Prospect Theater Company's MYTHS AND HYMNS Announces Talkback, 2/23

Prospect Theater Company will hold a talkback with director Elizabeth Lucas and cast members from the critically-acclaimed production of Adam Guettel's Myths and Hymns following the Thursday, February 23 performance. Among the cast members in attendance will be Bob Stillman, Anika Larsen and Matthew Farcher. In addition, a 5pm performance has been added on Saturday, February 25. The production must close on February 26.

Christian Borle, Adam Chanler-Berat, Celia Keenan-Bolger to Return for Broadway's PETER AND THE STARCATCHER

The producers of Peter and the Starcatcher, a new play by Tony® Award-nominee Rick Elice (Jersey Boys), just announced that the cast of the acclaimed Off-Broadway production will reunite for the show's Broadway Premiere. Christian Borle, a Lucille Lortel winner last year for his performance (and star of NBC's "Smash"), will return as 'Black Stache'; Adam Chanler-Berat (Next to Normal), who recently departed the Off Broadway production of Rent, returns as 'Boy'; and Drama Desk Award-winner Celia Keenan-Bolger (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) will reprise her role as 'Molly,' the titular Starcatcher. Returning cast members also include Teddy Bergman (Seven Minutes in Heaven), Arnie Burton (The 39 Steps), Matt D'Amico (Fizz), Kevin Del Aguila (Jacques Brel...), Carson Elrod (Reckless), Greg Hildreth (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) and David Rossmer (Don't Quit Your Night Job).
