The time is now for The Scottish Play; over the past couple of years there has been a glut of Macbeths, no doubt inspired by the extraordinary ongoing political events. This time it's Chichester's turn, with director Paul Miller reuniting with John Simm for a second Shakespeare (the pair teamed up for Hamlet in 2010), and Dervla Kirwan taking on the role of Lady Macbeth in this, the final production of the summer season.

BroadwayWorld has a first look at the Broadway-bound production of Cagney, based on the life of Academy Award® winner James Cagney, launches Pioneer Theatre Company's (Artistic Director, Karen Azenberg & Managing Director, Chris Massimine) season this Fall. As a follow-up to the announcement of the film program for its 40th Anniversary Filmfest, Aspen Film has released the line-up of special events and in-town guests as part of the festival taking place September 23-29, 2019. Advance film and event tickets will be available for purchase to Aspen Film members beginning today, Wednesday, September 4, and to the public on Monday, September 9. Country superstar Trisha Yearwood will host the 10th annual a?oeCMA Country Christmas,a?? the two-hour music celebration that airs on ABC during the holiday season. In addition to her hosting duties, Yearwood will also perform on the Christmas special, taking the stage for a night filled with Christmas classics and festive one-of-a-kind collaborations.

The full company joining them in Paul Miller's production are: Heider Ali (2nd Murderer), Michael Balogun (Macduff), David Burnett (1st Murderer/Menteith), Roseanna Frascona (Weird Sister), Leah Gayer (Weird Sister), Lauren Grace (Weird Sister), Stuart Laing (Banquo), Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Ross), Avital Lvova (Lennox), Harry Peacock (Porter/Siward), Isabel Pollen (Lady Macduff), Christopher Ravenscroft (Duncan/Doctor), Beatriz Romilly (Malcolm) and Nathan Welsh (Donalbain), with Jacob Blazdell and Harvey McGuinness sharing the role of Fleance, and Noah Peirson and Matthew O'Shea that of Young Macduff.

There are some musicals that simply epitomize the genre. You know the ones - the shows where you have lost count how many times you have seen them, either on Broadway, on tour, or at your local theatre. They are like a part of the family - the favorite uncle or aunt that you are happy to see whenever you are together. One of these shows for me is Meredith Willson's THE MUSIC MAN, the classic that serves as a near-perfect representation of American Musical Theatre. So, it is with excitement, and a bit of trepidation (how will this production fare with all the others in my memory?) that I went to see Goodspeed Musicals latest production. I am thrilled to say that the play feels as fresh as the day it premiered, is as lovely as the "bells on the hill" that feature in one of its most iconic songs, and serves as a brilliant opening to the new season at the Goodspeed Opera House.
