The New Group has announced that Suzanne Vega will join Jennifer Damiano, Ana Nogueira, Joél Pérez and Michael Zegen in Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, appearing in the onstage role for which Duncan Sheik was previously announced. 

The New Group will soon present Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, starring Jennifer Damiano, Ana Nogueira, Joél Pérez and Michael Zegen, and Duncan Sheik, in this world premiere production.  Arriving as part of The New Group's 25th Anniversary Season, this production features Book by Jonathan Marc Sherman, Music and Lyrics by Duncan Sheik, Additional Lyrics by Amanda Green and Choreography by Kelly Devine.  Scott Elliott directs.  Previews begin January 16 in advance of an Official Opening Night on Tuesday, February 4.  A limited Off-Broadway engagement is slated through March 15 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street).

Multi-hyphenate James Mangold will receive the Cinema Audio Society Filmmaker Award at the 56th Annual CAS Awards on January 25th, at the Intercontinental Los Angeles Downtown. 

Sony Movie Channel, in advance of Columbia Pictures' July 26 domestic theatrical release of Quentin Tarantino's original film, Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood, is bringing fans “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood and Quentin Tarantino Present The Swinging Sixties,” a series of 10 films personally curated by the two-time Academy Award winning writer-director, all of which served as a specific influence in the creation of his latest 1969-set film.

The Folger Shakespeare Library will host the DC premiere of Ghost Light, a new dark comedy by filmmakers John Stimpson and Geoffrey Taylor. The film, a Feature Film Award-winner at the Austin Film Festival, will be shown in the historic Folger Theatre located on Capitol Hill. Death is part of life, and Jewish Women's Theatre (JWT) will perform stories about the many facets of death and how memories, fears, and new understandings can transform grief or relief into thoughts and actions that are positive and healing.  It's a Life opens March 9 at The Braid in Santa Monica and travels throughout the state until March 28, in homes, artful venues, synagogues and JCCs.

The Cinema Audio Society Award for Outstanding Sound Mixing Motion Picture - Live Action was presented to the sound mixing team from “Bohemian Rhapsody” of John Casali, Paul Massey, Tim Cavagin, Niv Adiri, CAS, Mike Tehrani, Glen Gathard, Jemma Riley Tolch.

Veteran comedy screenwriting partners Lowell Ganz & Babaloo Mandel, known for such acclaimed box-office hits as Splash and Parenthood, have been named the recipients of the Writers Guild of America West's 2019 Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement, presented to Guild members who have “advanced the literature of motion pictures and made outstanding contributions to the profession of the screenwriter.”

Due to popular demand, The Left Wing, in association with John Turturro, extends the world premiere production of Brandon Cole's Imperfect Love to February 25. Directed by Michael Di Jiacomo, Imperfect Love is inspired by the tumultuous life of the great Italian actress Eleonora Duse (1858-1924) and her nine-year love affair with the poet and playwright Gabriele D'Annunzio (1863-1938). The production, which is set to open on February 4, runs at The Connelly Theater and features set and costume design by the Academy Award-winning Italian designer Gianni Quaranta (Merchant-Ivory's A Room with a View). Turturro's 1998 film, Illuminata, which was co-written by Cole and Turturro, was based on Cole's Imperfect Love.

Iconic screenwriter-director-producer James L. Brooks, whose acclaimed films include Terms of Endearment, Broadcast News, and As Good As It Gets, has been named the recipient of the Writers Guild of America West's 2018 Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement in recognition of his extraordinary career and body of work.

Darkest Hour director Joe Wright will receive the Cinema Audio Society Filmmaker Award at the 54th Annual CAS Awards on February 24th, at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza in downtown Los Angeles.
