Classical Theatre Of Harlem Presents SANACHO: AN ACT OF REMEMBRANCE

The Classical Theatre of Harlem (Ty Jones, Producing Artistic Director), Pemberley Productions and Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre are proud to present Sancho: An Act of Remembrance. This timely theater production celebrates the extraordinary life of Charles Ignatius Sancho, an African man who was born on a slave ship and rose to prominence as a noted abolitionist, composer, social satirist and man of refinement in 18th century English society. Sancho makes his mark in history by becoming the first British-African to cast a vote in England in 1774.

But can this handpicked team uncover the mystery behind it all and end his destruction before it's too late?

Today Wilton's announce their summer 2018 season, a true showcase of its music hall roots with Weimar cabaret performers, sultry chanteuses and time-travelling magicians all treading the historic boards, and true icons like the first Afro-Briton to vote in a UK general election and fame hungry gender-queer music hall stars telling their stories to entertain and inform audiences.

National Youth Theatre REP Company's OTHELLO Begins at the Ambassadors Theatre

Following the success of four previous West End REP Seasons, the NYT Rep Company will return to the Ambassadors Theatre for a fifth year in September with a brand new female-led adaptation of Jekyll and Hyde exploring women's roles and rights in Victorian society, by Evan Placey who wrote their 2015 hit Consensual. The second REP show, which marks an exciting new collaboration, will see NYT present Frantic Assembly's award-winning modern-day Othello under the direction of Frantic's Associate Director Simon Pittman. National Black Theatre's 49th Season Heads 'Black to the Future'

Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre's 49th season cedes the floor to modern-day griots with gripping, one-person tales capturing the trauma and triumph of a people. In a nod to the African tradition of the storyteller and historian who inspires and uplifts, the season is anchored by two one-person shows, The Peculiar Patriot, by Liza Jessie Peterson, a coproduction with Hi-ARTS, and Sancho by Paterson Joseph, a coproduction with Classical Theatre of Harlem (CTH) and Pemberley Productions. Themed "Black to the Future," the 49th season-which includes workshop productions by resident playwrights-seeks to take stock of the present and look to the past to predict and help shape a brighter future for Black people.

Gate Theatre Announces New Associates and Full Line-up for Intransit Festival Takeover

Following the recent announcement of her inaugural season as Artistic Director of Gate Theatre, Ellen McDougall today announces two new Associates joining the Gate - Jude Christian, and Anthony Simpson-Pike. Former Associate Director Lynette Linton also re-joins the team as Director of the Young Associates programme.

National Youth Theatre Launches 2017 Season

Paul Roseby, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain (NYT) has today announced its new season of work.  2017 marks 50 years of the organisation commissioning new work for young people and in celebration 50 play readings are taking place in weird and wonderful locations across the UK today.
