Since 2009, Broadway South Africa has conducted empowerment through the arts programming in disadvantaged communities throughout South Africa. The organization has raised close to $500,000, helping to improve the lives and future's of student's dramatically affected by poverty, violence, abuse, and HIV/AIDS.

Broadway favorite Caissie Levy will soon release her debut solo album, titled 'With You' whoch will be available soon, and on the album, Levy sings a Broadway classic- 'Without You' from Rent.

Composer David Are launches his double disc concept albums, A Few For Friends/Friends For A Few, with a night of live music and multimedia on Monday, January 14th at Galapagos Art Space, 7:30pm.

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Broadway veteran Paris Remillard has temporarily joined the cast of The Public Theater's INTO THE WOODS as 'Rapunzel's Prince.' Remillard is filling in for Cooper Grodin, who has been out of the show because of appendicitis. A Public Theater representative revealed that Grodin 'will be back very soon.'

The Seattle theater scene has presented us with some amazing shows this last season and I felt it necessary to recognize some of the incredible talent and shows I was fortunate enough to see. The National Tour of HAIR debuted in Toronto on Wednesday night at the gorgeous Royal Alexandra Theatre, where it will play until New Year's Eve. On hand to celebrate the show's triumphant return to our city were many of the members of the original Canadian production of HAIR. Today, BroadwayWorld.com is announcing the nominees for the 2011 BroadwayWorld Chicago Awards! Representatives of 67 different theater productions, which played at 40 different Chicagoland theaters, are nominated in the 25 categories for the second annual Awards. As these are the only Theater Fan Choice Awards for the internationally known Chicago theater scene, the nominees rightly come from both Equity and Non-Equity theater companies, and from the worlds of plays, musicals, revues and touring shows.
