The National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) selected 62 finalists from tens of thousands of students to compete for the coveted Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor and Best Performance by an Actress, last night at the Minskoff Theatre. Hosted by the Tony Award-nominated stars of Rodgers + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA, Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana, the fifth annual performance showcase featured dynamic ensemble and solo performances exclusively from the musical theater cannon. Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters will host the 15th annual BROADWAY BARKS!, a star-studded dog and cat adoption event benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. Produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, sponsored by the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and additional sponsorship by the New York Times, BARKS will take place on Saturday, July 13 in Shubert Alley, the heart of the Broadway Theater District (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenues). The festivities begin at 3:30 p.m.; celebrity presentations of pets from animal shelters citywide will take place between 5-6:30 p.m. This year, BARKS will open the show with a performance from the Jersey Boys followed by the Broadway debut of many adoptable animals presented by stars from this season's 'hottest' shows.

MATILDA THE MUSICAL opened to rapturous reviews in April and has received four Tony Awards, the Best Musical award from the New York Drama Critics Circle, and five Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical. The partnership will commence at the annual Tony Eve Cocktail Party which will take place on Saturday, June 8th, hosted by the Paramount Hotel's food and beverage partner, LDV Hospitality, at their Midtown restaurant, Lugo Caffe (One Penn Plaza). At the event, the Tony Awards will present the Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre to: Career Transition for Dancers; William Craver; Peter Lawrence, The Lost Colony and the actresses who share the role of "Matilda" in Matilda the Musical: Sophia Gennusa, Oona Laurence, Baily Ryan and Milly Shapiro. They will also present the Huntington Theatre Company with the Regional Theatre Award.
