TAKING STEPS Comes to the Main Street Theater This Month

Main Street Theater is producing the rollicking British farce, Taking Steps by internationally-acclaimed playwright, Sir Alan Ayckbourn. When the play first premiered in England, on its original opening night, the laughter was so loud it broke the theater's PA system!

Mark sits in a white box on a red chair. He is dressed in a grey t-shirt and jeans. With the exception of sporting a red cape, he is nondescript, ordinary, normal. In the next 65 minutes, we are taken on an emotional ride through Mark's experiences of love, parenthood and devastating loss, all while he flits between being a superhero and a very average man.

My experience at Atlantic Acting School was akin to gradually assembling a truly amazing puzzle. One of the initial pieces I discovered and valued the most was when I completed my application form. A specific question made me realize that Atlantic was the perfect fit for me. Choosing to perform a Tennessee (Thomas Lanier) Williams (1911-1983) play means genuinely committing to some of theater’s most salient aspects: in this case, a plot that must capture and then hold the audience in unfolding layers of tragedy, characters that are complex and often display less-than-desirable human characteristics, believable delivery of modified language to portray a specific region or temperament, performance of disconcerting and sometimes virulent spectacle on a human scale, and production design that rises to the needs of the story. 

Jeremy Irons and Helena Bonham Carter to Star in Neil Jordan Film

According to reports, Jeremy Irons and Helena Bonham Carter will be appearing together in a new film from Neil Jordan, director of 1994's Interview with a Vampire. The film is based on a book by Jordan, The Well of Saint Nobody. In addition to Irons and Carter, actor Aidan Quinn is also set to star in the film. It will begin shooting later this year.
