Brooklyn College Presents the 12th Annual Weasel Festival Hosted by the Public Theater

The Department of Theater at Brooklyn College is one of New York City's outstanding institutions in the training of theater artists. With the assistance of a generous grant from the Tow Foundation, the Department of Theater in conjunction with the MFA Playwriting Program, headed by co-coordinators Mac Wellman and Erin Courtney, will present the annual Weasel Festival, hosted by The Public Theater.

One-Woman Show GOBLIN MARKET Begins Tonight at 59E59 Theaters

A haunting folktale of sisterhood, enchantment, and salvation, Goblin Market is based on the widely popular poem of Christina Rossetti. After its critically acclaimed premiere in Nashville, JJewell Productions' Goblin Market will be presented at the 59E59 Theaters in New York this weekend, July 14-16, as part of the East to Edinburgh Festival.

ABC News Premieres Original Documentary SURVIVING THE INFERNO: ESCAPING FRENFELL TOWER, Today

Centered on the devastating fire that engulfed London's Grenfell Tower and killed at least 80 people nearly one month ago, the 26-minute documentary will be distributed on digital platforms and feature testimonials from survivors who escaped the building's flames and eyewitnesses who were in contact with victims inside the apartment complex.

Chester Theatre Company to present SKELETON CREW

Chester Theatre Company (CTC) is proud to present Dominique Morisseau's Skeleton Crew in the historic Chester Town Hall, 15 Middlefield Road in Chester, MA, from July 13 - 23, 2017. The production is directed by Awoye Timpo, making her CTC directorial debut. In this 'deeply moral and deeply American play' (The New York Times), Reggie has worked his way up to supervisor at a faltering auto factory. Now he has to decide whether he owes his loyalty to himself, to his bosses, or to long-time family friend Faye and the younger workers on the line, Dez and Shanita. In the spirit of August Wilson's Pittsburgh Cycle, this third play from Morisseau's Detroit Trilogy explores the hard choices facing Americans barely squeezing by. It was named by the New York Times as 'one of six plays that reckon with an anxious America.'

More Than 50 Playwrights, Directors & Dramaturgs Set for 2017 MFA Workshop at Kennedy Center

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, will co-present the 12th annual MFA Playwright's Workshop (MFAPW) in association with the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and Stanford University's National Center for New Plays.

Jemma Kahn's Kamishibai memoir IN BOCCA AL LUPO will play a week-long season at the Alexander Bar, Café and Theatre this July. Written by Kahn with Tertius Kapp, this is Kahn's third kamishibai show, following THE EPICENE BUTCHER and WE DIDN'T COME TO HELL FOR THE CROISSANTS.

Staycation presents Live Music & Comedy Fundraiser 7/13

Brian Charles Rooney to Star in MISS BLANCHE TELLS IT ALL at NYMF

This summer, Brian Charles Rooney will star as Miss Blanche, in the Premiere of the solo musical, Miss Blanche Tells It All by Jason Jacobs & Matthew C. Pritchard. Directed by Gisela Cardenas, with musical direction by Robert Frost and choreography by Nicole Curcio, it will begin performances as part of this year New York Musical Festival (NYMF) beginning July 12 at Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Playwrights Horizons (416 W 42nd St).

Greg Pierce's CARDINAL to Open Winter 2018 at Second Stage

Second Stage Theater has announced that the world premiere of GREG PIERCE's play, CARDINAL, directed by KATE WHORISKEY, has been added to the 2017-18 season. The production will open in Winter 2018 at the Tony Kiser Theater (305 West 43rd Street).
