Universal Pictures Stage Productions, Working Title Films and Old Vic Productions in association with Weinstein Live Entertainment, has announced, with Broadway In Chicago, casting for the Chicago production of Billy Elliot the Musical, beginning preview performances March 18, 2010 at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph St.). Opening night is Sunday, April 11, 2010. The cast includes John Peter (J.P.) Viernes who joins the previously announced actors Tommy Batchelor, Giuseppe Bausilio and Cesar Corrales in the role of ‘Billy'.

The Dicapo Opera Theatre Children's Chorus performed their spring concert to sold out houses this past weekend. The 250 seat theater on the upper east side of Manhattan is home to The Dicapo Opera. The Dicapo Opera was founded in 1981 by Michael Capasso and Diane Martindale and presents a full season of opera, musical productions and concerts every year.
On May 2nd, A Class Act NY hosted a One-Day Workshop with not one, two but three stars of Broadway's newest smash hit, Billy Elliot at their Billy Elliot Workshop! A Class Act NY, New York City?s award-winning acting studio for kids and teens, is proud to announce that Billy Elliot stars Thommie Retter and Casey Whyland are coming to the studio to teach a one-day master class at Ripley-Grier Studios in New York City on Saturday, May 2nd. They will be joined by Nora Brennan of Nora Brennan Casting, the casting director responsible for assembling the child actors that put the show on the map.
The production has delayed its first preview originally planned for tonight, Friday 27th, the show will now begin on Saturday, March 28th to allow the company an extra amount of rehearsal time, stated a Transport Group spokesperson.
