The BILLY ELLIOT Workshop For Kids & Teens To Take Place 5/2
The West End production of Billy Elliot was such a sensation in London that producers decided to cross the pond and bring this endearing story to life on Broadway.
Billy Elliot is "a joyous, exciting and feel-good celebration of one boy who follows his heart" to make his professional dancing dreams come true. With a score by music legend Elton John, and under the direction of the film's original creative team, the show heightens our ambitions and dances into our hearts.
A Class Act NY, New York City’s award-winning acting studio for kids and teens, is proud to announce that Billy Elliot stars Thommie Retter and Casey Whyland are coming to the studio to teach a one-day master class at Ripley-Grier Studios in New York City on Saturday, May 2nd. They will be joined by Nora Brennan of Nora Brennan Casting, the casting director responsible for assembling the child actors that put the show on the map.
Casey won't only be strutting her stuff for young Billy buffs but she'll also be doing a question and answer session with attendees. "Our kids will get to pick her brain about what it's like to be in a big Broadway hit,” adds Rofé. "We hope this type of open dialogue will really encourage participants to pursue their dreams no matter what they may be."
And the Billy Elliot experience wouldn't be complete without choreography instruction from Thommie, a world-renowned dance teacher. “We are really fortunate to
have Thommie Retter with us," says Rofé. "This is a dance-intensive show and workshop, and Thommie will provide kids with a genuine sense of what it takes to dance their way to the stage."
As Casey and Thommie teach kids actual dance steps from the show, Nora will conduct a mock audition, giving kids guidance, constructive feedback and helpful hints about proper audition technique.
Space is limited so all students are guaranteed to get the attention they deserve, leaving with special memories they will cherish forever!
