The New York Times has revealed part of the story behind A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN's abrupt cancellation prior to its scheduled off-Broadway run at the Gramercy Theater this month. Producers broke the news to the cast at their final rehearsal on April 8, just two days before the show's reopening downtown.

Fiona Shaw to Open Second UNITED SOLO EUROPE; Festival Runs May 27-31

The world's largest solo theatre festival based in New York will present its second European showcase May 27 - 31, 2014 at Teatr Syrena in Warsaw, Poland. Recipient of the Order of the British Empire and two-time Laurence Olivier Award winner Fiona Shaw will open this year's United Solo Europe with her remarks on solo theatre. The performers participating in the European showcase come from Finland, Sweden, Poland, USA, and Italy. The program includes a show by five-time Grammy nominee LynnMarie Rink and one directed by Austin Pendleton, as well as a solo version of "Hamlet" and a magic piece about the discovery of an Alfred Hitchcock film. The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust will present the fourth annual Pittsburgh JazzLive International Festival (PJLIF) on June 20-22, 2014. PJLIF will consist of three days of free jazz and jazz-influenced musical performances on outdoor stages throughout downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District. PJLIF attracts more than 20,000 attendees from around the country. The Festival features local, emerging, and national and international musicians in a variety of performance settings, including outdoor performance stages and indoor performance locations within local restaurants, coffee shops and galleries.

A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN will open at New York City's Gramercy Theatre (127 E 23rd St. / 23rd & Lexington Ave) on Thursday, April 10th, giving fans a chance to see Broadway's acclaimed theatrical rock experience in one of New York's most intimate concert venues. An exclusive presale for Citi Cardholders will begin today, March 17th at 10AM followed by Live Nation and Ticketmaster presales beginning at 10AM on Tuesday, March 18th. Tickets will be available to the general public at 10AM on Wednesday, March 19 via Ticketmaster.com and at the Gramercy Theatre box office.
