On Sunday June 18th at 9:30pm, Honeck-Moss Productions is proud to present 'In The Works.' This exciting monthly series was conceived as an opportunity for composers to try out new work in front of an audience and see how it plays in a supportive environment. It is also an opportunity to create community among the composers and their performers.
A once in a lifetime opportunity to experience an intimate evening of music and Broadway memories with Stephen Schwartz, the Tony, Oscar, and Grammy Award-winning composer/lyricist of the classic musicals Wicked, Pippin, and Godspell, the Walt Disney films The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Enchanted, and Pocahontas, and the DreamWorks film The Prince of Egypt.
In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 32 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2017 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 18 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.
Sheridan College's Canadian Music Theatre Project (CMTP), under the leadership of Michael Rubinoff, Associate Dean of Visual and Performing Arts, is an international centre of excellence for the development of new musicals in Canada. Since its inception in 2011, 15 shows have been incubated, with four having enjoyed their professional premieres (Come From Away, The Theory of Relativity, Prom Queen and Marathon of Hope) and one opening on Broadway in 2017 (Come From Away). Ciara Renee of the CW's Legends of Tomorrow and Alan Menken/Stephen Schwartz's The Hunchback of Notre Dame and A.J. Shively of Bright Star will join the cast of MuseMatch VII: Songs for Sophia, an evening that seeks to answer the question, 'What happens when 15 composers go on a blind date with 15 singers?,' will be presented Saturday June 18th, 2016 , at 11:30 PM at 54 Below. Produced by Bill Coyne and Ariel Dobshinsky, all proceeds will benefit Sophia Maglione, an 8-year old girl who is fighting her second bout of Medulloblastoma.

Just in time for Halloween, Prospect Theater Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Cara Reichel and Managing Director Melissa Huber, presents STAGE FRIGHT, a collection of macabre mini-musicals, the culminating production of Prospect's 2015 Annual Music Theater Lab, from October 25-31 at the West End Theatre at the Church of St. Paul and St. Andrew (263 West 86th Street).
This August, The Human Race Theatre Company begins a new chapter in its commitment to the development of new theatre with its first-ever Festival of New Works. This new festival combines the efforts of The Race's Musical Theatre Workshops and its Marsha Hanna New Plays Workshops into a unified program. 'It allows us to showcase what we do-musicals and plays-at one time of year,' says Human Race President and Artistic Director Kevin Moore. 'It's a better use of our resources and personnel. Plus, it creates a greater, more diverse experience for our audiences.' The 2015 Festival of New Works presents a collection of readings of five scripts-three plays and two musicals-by local, national and international writers. Readings will be held in the 60-seat Caryl D. Philips Creativity Center of The Human Race and The 212-seat Loft Theatre in downtown Dayton.
Under the stars on the patio at Vagabondo Italian Ristorante + Lounge in downtown Toronto, Theatre 20 announced its 2015/2016 season.
