The Old Globe Celebrates New Voices In The Community

The Old Globe announces its inaugural New Voices in the Community series: free public performances at libraries across San Diego County, followed by conversations with the playwrights and experts in the community. The first New Voices in the Community features three solo shows by women: Hold These Truths by Jeanne Sakata, "A" Train by Anne Torsiglieri, and Unveiled: A One-Woman Play by Rohina Malik.

Cast Announced for For BABY EYES

Jon Lawrence Rivera, Artistic Director of Playwrights' Arena - the first and oldest theater dedicated to discovering, nurturing, and producing original works written exclusively by Los Angeles playwrights - is thrilled to announce the cast for BABY EYES by Donald Jolly, which includes Jason Caceres, James Kaemmerling, Rudy Martinez, Ted Monte, Dennis Renard and Melvin Ward.

Cast Announced For I GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

Jon Lawrence Rivera, Artistic Director of Playwrights' Arena - the first and oldest theater dedicated to discovering, nurturing, and producing original works written exclusively by Los Angeles playwrights, is thrilled to announce the cast for I GO SOMEWHERE ELSE by Inda Craig-Galvan, which includes Kevin Cougal, Kita Grayson, Donna Simone Johnson, Inger Tudor, and Cheri Lynne VandenHeuvel.

New York Classical Theatre's ROMEO AND JULIET Moves To Rockefeller Park/Battery Park City For 'Take A Seat' Week

After a successful run in Central Park, playing to over 4,000 people, performances resume on Wednesday, June 27 in Rockefeller Park/Battery Park City for New York Classical Theatre's critically acclaimed production of Romeo and Juliet, directed by the company's Founding Artistic Director Stephen Burdman. The production will play this week through June 30, before continuing on to The Battery, Carl Schurz Park, and Brooklyn Bridge Park for performances through July 29. There is no ticketing, and all performances are free and open to the public. Performance schedule can be found at newyorkclassical.org.   

New York Classical Theatre Celebrates 19th Anniversary with ROMEO AND JULIET

New York Classical Theatre (Stephen Burdman, Artistic Director), New York City's only all-free professional Off-Broadway theatre company, is pleased to announce a new production of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to celebrate its 19th Anniversary Season. The production, directed by Mr. Burdman, is the company's first staging of Shakespeare's tale of star-crossed lovers, and will be presented in five New York City parks - Central Park, Rockefeller Park/Battery Park City, The Battery, Carl Schurz Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park - with performances from June 5 through July 29 at 7:00 PM. There is no ticketing, and all performances are free and open to the public. New York Classical Theatre also invites audiences to experience unique behind-the-scenes access to open rehearsals on selected dates for each of the five park stagings. 

Lisa Wolpe to Bring SHAKESPERIENCES to HERE

Fresh off a successful international tour, actress Lisa Wolpe - hailed for her dynamic, gender-bending turns as some of Shakespeare's most popular characters - has announced she will bring her groundbreaking, one-woman show Shakespeare and the Alchemy of Gender to HERE for 16 performances, July 16th through August 14th. The show will play in repertory with Macbeth3, Wolpe's celebrated three-actor adaptation of the Scottish play, in which she plays the title role, Nick Salamone plays Lady Macbeth and Satan, and Mary Hodges plays Duncan, the Porter, Banquo, and MacDuff.
