Young People's Chorus of NYC Recognizes Holocaust Remembrance Day with Special Presentation of BRUNDIBAR

In recognition of Holocaust Remembrance Day, The Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) will perform the historic and poignant children’s opera, “Brundibár” at The Museum of Jewish Heritage on Sunday, January 29 at 3 p.m.  The performance will feature a cast of 40 choristers and a 13-piece orchestra, conducted by YPC Associate Conductor Sophia Papoulis, with direction by Eric Einhorn of On Site Opera and costumes by Beth Goldenberg.

NYU Skirball and The Invisible Dog Present the U.S. Premiere of AUTOPHAGIES

NYU Skirball will present the U.S. premiere of Eva Doumbia's Autophagies (Self-Eaters), a mix of theater and flavors served with a pinch of music and a taste of international politics. The play, co-produced with The Invisible Dog and performed at The Invisible Dog Art Center in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, features a renowned Paris-based chef who will prepare a meal to be shared by the audience.

Bloomingdale School Of Music Awarded $40,000 In Grant Funding From The New York State Council On The Arts

Bloomingdale School of Music has announced the receipt of two grant awards totaling $40,000 from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to support the recovery of the nonprofit arts and culture sector. Following New York State's historic investment for the arts, NYSCA has awarded $90 million since Spring 2022 to a record number of artists and organizations across the state.

BAX is has announced its Winter Drag Show featuring participants from Kelindah Schuster aka Theydy Bedbug's class, “Drag Performance: Between and Beyond Gender.” This culminating showcase will feature 15 original performance pieces by emerging experimental drag artists who subvert both gender and genre.

Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company Presents Annual Lunar New Year Performance At NJPAC!

Fort Lee, N.J. based Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company will begin its annual celebration of the Lunar New Year. It is the year of the rabbit and this year's presentation is the Black Water Rabbit with the world premiere of Lion in The City featuring hip-hop break-dancing legends Kwikstep and Rokafella.  Kwikstep, founder of the Full Circle Breaking Crew and a mentor to some of the best break dancers in the U.S. and Rokafella, one of the most iconic b-girls in hip-hop history will take to the stage with Nai Ni Chen on Saturday, January 21 and Sunday January 22 at 2pm.

THE VICKSBURG PROJECT Will Get World Premiere at Harlem Stage

Harlem Stage kicks off 2023 with the world premiere of the exploded song cycle The Vicksburg Project, produced by Mabou Mines and piece by piece productions, and created by Eve Beglarian, Karen Kandel, and Mallory Catlett.

Ancram Opera House Receives $40,000 Grant From NYSCA
