Centenary Stage Comapny Announces Cast for World Premiere of Patricia Cotter's Award-Winning Comedy THE SURROGATE

Famed Groundlings Theatre in LA alumna - which gave birth to such SNL actors as Phil Hartman, Lorraine Newman, and the Pee Wee Herman phenomenon - and Emmy Award winning author, Patricia Cotter, brings her unique sense of comedy and contemporary issues to Centenary Stage Company with the World Premiere of The Surrogate February 17 through March 5 at the Lackland Performing Arts Center (LPAC).

Dick Brukenfeld's antic new comedy THE BIG BROADCAST ON EAST 53rd begins previews tonight, February 3rd, at 8 PM at The TBG Theatre, 312 West 36th Street, NYC, under Charles Maryan's direction. The press opening is Thursday, Feb 9th and the Equity production continues through February 25th.

New Comedy THE SURROGATE to Premiere at Centenary Stage Company

Family life is changing, and playwright Patricia Cotter knows all about it.   In a smart and funny play about blended families, desire, motherhood, class and sexual politics, Cotter's comedy, "The Surrogate" examines just how much  we can ask of our friends, our parents and our spouses, and whether we'll get any of our important life decisions right in this new age.  

AS YOU LIKE IT, Featuring Original Music by Obie Winner Heather Christian, to Launch New Year at Folger Theatre

Folger Theatre continues its celebrated 25th anniversary season with As You Like It, one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies. Directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, this classic tale filled with love, laughter, and mistaken identity features original songs composed by Heather Christian and dances by Alexandra Beller. As You Like It is on stage from January 24 through March 5, 2017.

TheatreWorks Brings International Comic Drama CALLIGRAPHY to Palo Alto

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 2016/2017 season with the Regional Premiere of Velina Hasu Houston's international comic drama, Calligraphy. Two continents, two cultures, two estranged sisters, and two cousins determined to bridge the gap between them, are all boldly calligraphed in this free-wheeling work set in Los Angeles and Tokyo, past and present.  East and West collide as Japanese free-spirit Sayuri and biracial American Hiromi care for their feuding mothers, whom they gamely hope to reunite before it is too late. Directed by TheatreWorks Associate Artistic Director Leslie Martinson, Calligraphy will be presented by TheatreWorks Silicon Valley March 8-April 2 at Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. Aurora Theatre Company Extends Tom Stoppard's THE REAL THING

Due to popular pre-sale demand, Aurora Theatre Company announces that it will add an additional week of performances for THE REAL THING, Tom Stoppard's (The Coast of Utopia, Arcadia, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead) timeless comedy about an all-too-witty playwright who succumbs to the emotional ravages he puts his characters through. Timothy Near ("Master Harold"…and the boys) returns to Aurora to helm this Tony Award-winner for Best Play (1984) and Best Revival of a Play (2000), featuring Elijah Alexander, Liz Sklar, Carrie Paff (This Is How It Goes, A Delicate Balance, Collapse),Tommy Gorrebeeck (The Monster-Builder, The Eccentricities of a Nightingale), Seann Gallagher, and Emily Radosevich. THE REAL THING now plays through March 5th (added performances: Tuesday, February 28, 7pm; Wednesday, March 1, 8pm; Thursday, March 2, 8pm; Friday, March 3, 8pm; Saturday, March 4, 8pm; Sunday, March 5, 2pm, 7pm) at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley.
