A Soldier's Play pinpoints various forms of racism found within the ranks of the military. Racism is detrimental to all who exhibits it. In this case it led to the death of an enlisted sergeant. This 'whodunit' masterpiece takes it's patron on a 'cat and mice' journey of colorism and racism with many guilty parties.

Today's subject Norm Lewis is probably best known for his rich baritone sound and superb acting in several Broadway musicals. His tour de force performance opposite Audra McDonald in Porgy and Bess is still one of the great modern-day performances.

Charles Fuller, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for his acclaimed drama A Soldier’s Play and Oscar-nominated for his work on the film adaptation A Soldier’s Story, died of natural causes on Monday, October 3, 2022 in Toronto with his wife Claire Prieto-Fuller by his side.

TimeLine Theatre Company’s 2022-23 season will continue this fall with the landmark classic Trouble in Mind by Alice Childress, directed by TimeLine Company Member Ron OJ Parson, running November 2 – December 18, 2022.

Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Black and Latino Playwrights Celebration (BLPC), Artistic Director Eugene Lee will perform August Wilson’s How I Learned What I Learned, Sept. 8-23, in support of the newly established endowment fund.

From October 19 to November 6 at Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street, The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. will present 'Our Voices, Our Time,' a program of three one-acts that have been co-commissioned by Penn Live Arts at the University of Pennsylvania.

The staged reading of Greenwood by Coolidge Harris II, the inaugural presentation of the TRU Diversity/Amplifying BIPOC Voices program initiative, will be followed by a 'dollars and sense' talkback discussion about the development of this new work. The reading will take place on Monday, July 25, 2022 at 7pm ET at The Actors’ Temple.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU), announces the launch of TRU Diversity: Amplifying BIPOC Voices, an initiative to highlight the works and explore the concerns of BIPOC theater artists, producers and administrators. The debut of the TRU Diversity program will feature a free reading of Greenwood, a relevant new play by TRU member Coolidge Harris II, set during the Tulsa Race Massacre.
