Review: THE DING DONGS Are Not Selling Avon

Despite its somewhat whimsical title, playwright Brenda Withers has crafted a taut story that is more dramatic cat-and-mouse game than comedic Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? Director Rebecca Bradshaw’s previous experience mounting the play at the Kitchen Theatre Company with this same trio of actors shows in their seamless chemistry and her nuanced pacing of the action.

THE DING DONGS Comes to Gloucester Stage Company

Gloucester Stage Company is excited to announce the highly anticipated opening of THE DING DONGS, a comedic thriller by Cape Cod playwright Brenda Withers and directed by Gloucester Stage's Artistic Director Rebecca Bradshaw. A part lesson in how power evolves and how intimidation works, audiences will have the opportunity to experience this thought-provoking play beginning Friday, August 11, through Friday, August 27, at the Gloucester Stage Company's historic waterfront theater.

Kitchen Theatre Company Announces Mid-Season Restructuring

For theaters across the country, the post-pandemic time has brought critical challenges. The 2022-23 Kitchen Theatre Company season was strategically planned with the expectation of moderate increases in ticket sales and individual gifts. As is true at many other theaters, audiences have not returned in significant enough numbers to meet costs, and emergency government funding has been sunset.

SING STREET Extended An Additional Week at The Huntington

The Huntington in association with Sing Street LLC has announced an additional week of performances for the joyous new musical Sing Street, based on the hit 2016 indie film of the same title by John Carney. Sing Street is now playing at The Huntington’s Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA through October 9, 2022.

What impact does social class have on the relationships we forge with other people? And what becomes of those relationships when forces beyond our control take effect? These are a few of the many questions examined inThe Orchard, a modernized, high-tech adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard. Shown at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, the cast is led by the man/myth/legend himself, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and the strikingly-sophisticated Jessica Hecht.

THE ORCHARD Reschedules First Performance Date Due to Covid

Due to a limited number of Covid cases within the company, The Orchard, conceived, adapted, and directed by Ukrainian born theater director Igor Golyak, will begin previews on June 7, instead of the previously scheduled May 31. Opening night remains unchanged, and is still scheduled for June 16 for a limited run through July 3.
