Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art Has Announced Their Spring Events

This season the Museum collaborates with the Center for Philosophical Technologies (CPT) - a strategic initiative of Arizona State University and a global hub for critical and speculative research on philosophy, technology and design - on a series of programs in conjunction with the exhibition 'Design Transfigured/Waste Reimagined.' Additionally, the ever-popular Mystery in the Museum returns and Trivia Night @SMoCA, as well as The Art of Mindfulness. These events offer guests the opportunity to engage with artists, the community and museumgoers to consider the questions and themes explored throughout the Museum and its exhibitions.

Scottsdale Arts Festival is Celebrating its 50th Anniversary

Scottsdale Arts Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary March 13-15, 2020 and is an annual weekend-long celebration of creativity. The Festival attracts nearly 20,000 loyal visitors annually, where guests enjoy the best in visual, culinary, cultural and performing arts throughout the newly renovated 20-acre Scottsdale Civic Center Park. Single day admission for this world-class, multi-disciplinary festival is $10 if purhased prior to Feb. 1, and $12 starting Feb. 2.

Flutist Nicole Mitchell Comes to Scheuer Auditorium at the Jewish Museum

Bang on a Can and the Jewish Museum's 2019-2020 concert season continues on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 7:30pm at the Jewish Museum's Scheuer Auditorium (1109 Fifth Avenue at 92nd Street). Flutist Nicole Mitchell's trio Matape, with Val Jeanty and Chad Taylor, creates ancient future soundscapes informed by the African diaspora through flute, Afro-Electronica, and percussion. This season's Bang on a Can performances celebrate the unique power of artist's voices, and Mitchell, emerging from Chicago's innovative music scene in the late 90s, continues that theme. The power of artists voices also resonates with themes in the current exhibition Rachel Feinstein: Maiden, Mother, Crone.

Kazimir Malevich Painting Now On View At Zimmerli

The Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers is pleased to exhibit the oil painting Two Peasant Women (1928-30) by Kazimir Malevich, a loan from the Moscow-based cultural project Encyclopedia of the Russian Avant-Garde, through May 17, 2020. The painting welcomes visitors at the entrance of the museum's George Riabov Gallery, which features Russian art created from the 14th century to the early 1950s.

Loghaven Artist Residency Has Launched with Announcement of Inaugural Artists and Completion of 90-Acre Campus

Loghaven Artist Residency, a newly created residency for emerging and established artists in the fields of visual art, dance, music, writing, theater, and interdisciplinary work, announces its first group of artists and the completion of its campus. The launch of Loghaven Artist Residency is the culmination of years of planning, research, design, and input from artists, arts leaders, and the Alliance of Artist Communities.

Jazz at MOCA to Feature the French Horn Collective

The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) is thrilled to welcome back The French Horn Collective as part of the monthly 'Jazz at MOCA' series on Friday, Jan. 31. The French Horn Collective is an energetic and progressive band that performs an extensive variety of Gypsy Jazz, Swing and modern original French music. Led by Parisian musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer, singer and songwriter, Vincent Raffard, the diverse group consists of highly talented musicians from various musical backgrounds and finds inspiration from genres such as Gypsy Jazz, Hot Swing, Ska and Polka, formulating the group's unique, progressive sound. The French Horn Collective will begin its performance at 8 p.m., rain or shine.

The Music Institute of Chicago Gala Will Honor Evgeny Kissin and Helen Zell

The Music Institute of Chicago hosts its 2020 Anniversary Gala on Monday, April 20 at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, 120 E. Delaware Street, celebrating its history as one of the largest and most respected community music schools in the nation. Highlights of this festive evening include presentations of the Dushkin Award to acclaimed pianist Evgeny Kissin and the 11th annual Cultural Visionary Award for Chicago to Helen Zell.

Same Planet To Premiere WILD TERRAIN

Same Planet Performance Project, known for meshing virtuosic, athletic and idiosyncratic movement styles, and always a little off kilter, presents a?oeWild Terrain,a?? an evening of dance featuring premieres by Founder/Artistic Director Joanna Read and New York choreographer Ivy Baldwin February 21 and 22, presented by the Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago, 1306 S. MOCA Toronto Shared Details of its Winter And Spring 2020 Exhibitions

The Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto (MOCA) today shared details of its exhibitions programme for the first part of 2020, featuring new commissions by Carlos Bunga, Shelagh Keeley, and Megan Rooney. An installation by Sarah Sze launches 'The City Is a Collection,' a new exhibition series presenting major contemporary artworks from private art holdings within the Toronto community.

Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art Celebrates Women Artists All Year

Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) unveils its first yearlong collection show, featuring all women artists. The exhibition includes a section of rotational highlights and a gallery dedicated to rarely shown installation-based works. 'Unapologetic: All Women, All Year' will be on view February 15, 2020 - January 31, 2021.

Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art Brings Exhibition of Experimental Design to Phoenix

A new traveling exhibition, 'Design Transfigured/Waste Reimagined,' is making its way to the Valley from Feb. 1 - May 17, 2020. Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) will be the second institution to show these works since debuting at Maria & Alberto de la Cruz Art Gallery at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., in 2019.

PV Knude Shares 'Alchemy Expression' Video

Artist and songwriter Peter Voss-Knude has released the second single, 'Alchemy Expression' off of his upcoming LP, The Anti-Terror Album. The single was premiered with American Songwriter praising not only 'Alchemy Expression' but praising the entire LP, 'Throughout Anti-Terror, he somehow makes palatable the heaviness of lyrics drifting from school shootings, racism, nuclear warfare, hatred and fear mongering, and says once people listen to the album, they will be less “terrorized,” in a sense.'

Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Art Fair Kicks Off With VIP Preview Thursday, January 9

Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble Presents Collaborative Performance On LGBTQ+ Identity

Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble has announced the third installment of its 2019-20 Art & Activism Performance Series, THE QUEER LANDSCAPE, an evening of live performance, art, and poetry centered around the intricacies, awareness, and opression of LGBTQ+ identity. Topics of featured performance works examine displacement of the trans community, violence and hate crimes, the evolution of coming out and coming into one's self acceptance, and gender fluidity. THE QUEER LANDSCAPE will play March 20-21, 2020 at Chicago Danztheatre's permanent home, Ebenezer Lutheran Church Auditorium, 1650 W. Foster Ave. in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood.
