With excitement and gratitude, Seattle Repertory Theatre today announced that it was granted full funding from the prestigious Elizabeth George Foundation for support of commissions for the work of three writers - Joanna Garner, Lily Houghton, and C.A. Johnson. This grant funds developmental work that will begin this fall 2018 through Seattle Rep's The Other Season. The Foundation's incredible support enables artists at the very beginning stage of their careers to have their work recognized and cultivated by institutions across the nation like Seattle Rep in the hope that these theatres become the artistic homes for the work being created.
The Azrieli Foundation is pleased to announce the soloists for the Azrieli Music Prizes Gala Concert on October 15, 2018 at 8:00 pm at Maison symphonique de Montréal. The concert features two major works for chamber orchestra by the winners of the 2018 Azrieli Music Prizes (AMP), two biennial $50,000 awards offering opportunities for the creation, performance and celebration of high quality new Jewish Music. In honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, the bellydancers and fire performers of Raks Inferno are teaming up with singer-songwriter Dawn Xiana Moon to present a celebration of Asian-Americans in the performing arts: The one-night cabaret show will feature live firespinning and bellydance at Uptown Underground on Thursday, May 3 from Chicago-based dancers who have performed all over the world, as well as premiere Moon's latest music video, an original arrangement of a traditional Chinese folk song.

Sundance Institute announces the slate of theatremakers from the U.S. and Middle East / North Africa who will convene at the Theatre Program's second annual Theatre Lab in Morocco next month. The Lab, which will take place from May 6 - 27 at the Fellah Hotel outside Marrakech, comprises three uninterrupted weeks of consultation, mentorship and workshop performance of new work for the stage. The Theatre Lab alternates locations each season, moving between the Sundance Resort in Utah, and a venue in the Middle East/North African region, as part of a multi-year commitment to international work and a means of facilitating cultural exchange between artists. Led by Sundance Institute Theatre Program Director Philip Himberg and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, teams of creative advisors, actors and dramaturgs will collaborate with writers and directors, independent from commercial or public pressures, as they develop their projects.

Skylight Music Theatre Artistic Director Ray Jivoff today announced a new Musical Theater Summer Workshop for high school students. The two-week program will be led by Jivoff, Margaret Bridges, Skylight's Education Manager and Ryan Cappleman, Skylight's Resident Education Music Director Mondays through Fridays, July 16 - 27, with a culminating showcase on Friday, July 27. The Summer Workshop will be held in the Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway, in Milwaukee's Third Ward.
