The Mercury Theatre Colchester has today announced the successful leading theatre-makers selected for their three dedicated talent development programmes for promising and innovative Playwrights, Producers and Directors from the East of England to create and develop new work.
The company also announced a series order for new original limited series “Iron Mike” from 20th Television and the team behind “I, Tonya,” as well as an early third season renewal for “Animaniacs” from Steven Spielberg.

When Billie Holiday died in 1959, she left this world a true Jazz icon, revered for her ability to create stage magic as she expressed deep personal, emotional hurt which governed her entire existence and in turn, spoke to millions worldwide. Known as perhaps the first female vocalist to use her voice in the style of jazz improvisation, it takes a special woman to effectively share Holiday's brutally tragic life story as well as her amazing vocal talents. Scott Alan premieres his new musical The Distance You Have Come in the intimate The Cockpit. Presented as a cycle of songs and with little-to-no dialogue, it sees a group of six people dealing with various degrees of desperation and challenges. A struggling actress (Emma Hutton), a broken lesbian couple (Alexia Khedime and Jodie Jacobs), an alcoholic (Dean John-Wilson) all grapple with the lingering uncertainty of life while the audience gets to see Andy Coxton and Adrian Hansel meet and fall in love.

The Prince - A New Musical by Scott Morgan is premiering at London's Arts Theatre on 10th September, 7:30pm in a concert performance. A 10 piece orchestra will be led by conductor Neil Whitfield.
Antony Raymond's new play, Apartment 301, opened at the Access Theater in Tribeca last week. The World Premiere is being produced by the award-winning Elsinore County Theatre Company and is directed by Raymond. The company's previous plays have been recognized by the New York Innovative Theatre Awards and have received critical acclaim. Raymond's past productions include Pretty Babies, yeah, i met this girl…, JULIO!, and The Title Should Be Spoken Out Loud Around Three-Quarters In (Dream Up Festival 2016), among others.
