The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced complete casting today for the world premiere of SOCRATES, written by acclaimed actor, director, and writer Tim Blake Nelson. Directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes and anchoring the Onassis Festival 2019: Democracy is Coming, SOCRATES will begin previews on Tuesday, April 2, with a Joseph Papp Free Preview performance on Wednesday, April 3 in The Public's Martinson Hall. This powerful new play runs through Sunday, May 19, with an official press opening on Tuesday, April 16.

The Peculiar Patriot, Liza Jessie Peterson's powerful one-woman show and scathing indictment of the criminal justice system, opened Friday to fanfare at Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre (NBT) in Harlem. La MaMa - the world-renowned theatre complex in the heart of New York City's East Village - today announced the cast for its first production of its 53rd Season entitled "LA MAMA EARTH," featuring works that raise awareness of world ecology and social justice both locally and globally. Two River Theater Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, continues its 2013/2014 Season with Shakespeare's romantic comedy As You Like it, directed by Michael Sexton (Two River's Henry V), the Artistic Director of the Shakespeare Society in New York.
