Each summer, The Muny in St. Louis produces a season of full-scale performances of Broadway musicals that must come together in a few short weeks. It takes a lot of work from committed actors and technical theater professionals, plus it requires a little bit of magic, Muny magic. Each night, approximately 11,000 members of the St. Louis community gather in Forest Park to enjoy a show that is built on an epic scale. Attending performances at this outdoor amphitheater is a tradition for many St. Louis families. This season, a former college intern at The Muny gets his opportunity to direct one of the biggest projects of his young career. BroadwayWorld had the opportunity to sit down with Matt Kunkel to learn about his training, his plans for helming his first full-scale Muny production, and how The Muny introduced him to directing and to his soon-to-be-wife.

Theater directors Sammi Cannold and Rebecca Aparicio, in partnership with The Broadway Podcast Network, are hosting the second installment of The Comeback Project, a conversation series to help theatermakers restart in the wake of the pandemic.

Today's subject Natascia Diaz is currently living her theatre life onstage at Signature Theatre playing the whore with a heart Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar, directed by Joe Calarco. The production runs through July 2nd. Previously she appeared at Signature in West Side Story, The Threepenny Opera (2015 Hayes Award nomination), and Kiss of the Spider Woman.

On Saturday, February 18th at 7:30 pm at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), come celebrate Maestro Leonard Bernstein's 100th birthday. Broadwayworld.com had the opportunity to interview one of the show's performers, Natascia Diaz about her career and the upcoming show.
