Local audiences are looking forward to another season of thought-provoking, professional theatre at Open Book Theatre Company (OBTC) in Trenton as they gear up for their sixth season. Open Book theatre was named Trenton Business of the Year for 2019, has won several Michigan theatre awards, and is quickly becoming a key player in the cultural scene Downriver. The theatre hires professional actors, directors, and designers from the Metro Detroit area. Producers, Mark Goucher and Matthew Gale confirmed today that his smash hit production of Hairspray will go out on tour again in 2020. The tour will visit Manchester, Bradford, Blackpool, Northampton, Aylesbury, Birmingham, Glasgow and Liverpool, with further locations to be announced soon. The tour will extend into 2021 and follows two extremely successful tours in 2015/16 and 2017/18.
'The Witches of Eastwick' is a novel by John Updike, which was filmed in the 80s and became one of the decade's greatest cult films of the same name. The story was rebuilt into musical and was first put on London's West End. We can now proudly present the 'Witches in Eastwick' on Circus this fall which is something very unique in its kind, never before has this award-winning musical been made in Sweden. The premiere is on September 19th at Circus in Stockholm.

The multi-talented entertainer will discuss his life and career, the impact of the arts on education, and on the world in which we live during a brief address followed by a moderated conversation with University of Virginia President Jim Ryan.
