The Wallis Announces Hope @ The Wallis

With the spirit of hope driving forward plans for the future, the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts has established Hope @ The Wallis, which includesthe announcement by Artistic Director Paul Crewes of the appointment of virtuoso violinist and consummate musician Daniel Hope as The Wallis' next Artist-In-Residence in collaboration with the New Century Chamber Orchestra. In addition, a major resiliency campaign and community match/challenge to support The Wallis' performing arts offerings was announced by Rachel Fine, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer.

Tony-Winning Producer Jonathan Demar Will Make His Green Room 42 Debut This Fall

Jonathan Demar, Tony Award-winning producer of Hadestown and formerly of Broadway's A Christmas Carol, will make his Green Room 42 debut on November 10th at 7pm with an all new version of his solo show Setting the Standard. Joining him as a special guest for the evening will be Broadway's Janet Krupin (If/Then, Hands On a Hardbody, Bring It On: The Musical).

Broadway Playwright Bernard Slade Passes Away at 89

Bernard Slade, (born Bernard Slade Newbound), the Canadian/American writer best known for his Broadway play SAME TIME, NEXT YEAR  and the TV series THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY, has died.  He passed away peacefully at home early this morning (October 30) in Beverly Hills from complications of Lewy Body Dementia. He was 89.

Sony Movie Channel Will Showcase Rarely-Shown Horror Films

Calling all horror enthusiasts! Sony Movie Channel will showcase rarely-shown horror films, mostly from the '70s, with double features played twice every night beginning at 8 p.m. EST on Friday, October 25 through Wednesday, October 30. A Halloween marathon will air Thursday, October 31 between 9 a.m. and 2 a.m.

ADG Film Society Presents THE PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO

The Art Directors Guild (ADG, IATSE Local 800) Film Society's 2019 Screening Series will conclude with the classic The Purple Rose of Cairo(1985). It will be a tribute to its Emmy®-winning and Oscar®-nominated Production Designer Stuart Wurtzel, ADG, at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica on Sunday, August 4 at 5:30 pm. Following the screening, Mr. Wurtzel will explore the making of The Purple Rose of Cairo, moderated by John Iacovelli, ADG, Production Designer and ADG Film Society Co-chair.  The annual 2019 Screening series “Production Design: Designers On Design,” highlights the work of renowned Production Designers and their creative collaborations, and is in association with American Cinematheque. 

Northrop Announces 10-Event Film Series

Northrop announces its 2019-20 Film Series, featuring several award-winning films with diverse artistic voices from around the world. From a film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby to the Beatles fan favorite Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and the more recent The Hate U Give, the series includes cult classics and notable works exploring history, social issues, and arts performances.
