BWW Review: APRIL, MAY & JUNE Examines if Sisters Can Unite After a Family Secret is Revealed

Theatre 40 is a well-known for presenting superb and very professional World Premiere productions in the Reuben Cordova Theatre on the campus of Beverly Hills High School. Their winning streak continues with APRIL, MAY & JUNE written by Gary Goldstein and directed by Terri Hanauer which continues through April 16, 2017. In it, we meet April, May and June, fortyish sisters all born a year apart. They're Jewish by birth but temperamentally so different, which becomes all the more apparent as they gather in their family home to pack up what is left of their mother's belongings to give to Good Will and discover a hidden family secret among her belongings.

BWW Review: BLUEPRINT FOR PARADISE: Needs Less Hate and More Empathy

In the program notes, playwright Laurel M. Wetzork states one of her primary reasons for writing BLUEPRINT FOR PARADISE as, 'It's important that we don't make the same mistakes we've made in the past.' As well-intentioned of Ms. Wetzork to fictionalize the 1941 construction of a Nazi compound in the Pacific Palisades, her well-meaning 'message' does not come soon enough in the almost two-and-a-half-hour show.

THE TRIP BACK DOWN to Open 2/21 at Whitefire Theatre

Terri Hanauer directs a rare revival of the celebrated Broadway drama that kick-started playwright/screenwriter John Bishop's career. Nick Stabile (Bride of Chucky, Dennis Wilson in ABC's award-winning The Beach Boys) heads the cast as once-great NASCAR racer Bobby Horvath in The Trip Back Down, opening Feb. 21 at the Whitefire Theatre.

BWW Reviews: LIGHT UP THE SKY Shines Brightly at Theatre 40

Are you ready for some hearty laughter? Then head over to Theatre 40 and enjoy the witty repartee in Moss Hart's LIGHT UP THE SKY! There's nothing quite like the hours before the opening night of a theater production, and I am sure anyone ever involved in the production of a play will not be able to stop laughing as each character will no doubt remind you of some colorful characters you have known up close and personal.
