Paper Mill Playhouse to Host Auditions for Broadway Show Choir in August

Paper Mill Playhouse has announced open auditions for the award-winning Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir. The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir is a tuition-free, audition based, performance show choir that stems from Paper Mill Playhouse's award-winning Arts Education and Outreach programs. The choir consists of 40 to 50 singer/dancers between the ages of 16 and 22. Auditions for this special ensemble will take place at Paper Mill Playhouse, 22 Brookside Drive in Millburn, NJ on the evenings of Sunday, August 24th; Monday, August 25th and Wednesday, August 27th by appointment only. Call-back auditions will be held on Paper Mill's campus on Sunday, September 7 from 6:00pm-9:00pm. To make an audition appointment please call 973-315-1640 or email Jzeitoun@papermill.org. F. Michael Haynie, Julia Mattison & Michael Campayno to Lead CYRANO DE BURGER SHACK Reading Tomorrow

Stageworks Media will present an industry reading of Cyrano de Burger Shack, A New High School Musical written by award-winning playwright Jeremy Desmon and directed by Jeremy Dobrish, which will take place on Friday, February 7th at 1:00 pm at 54Below (254 West 54th Street, NYC). Featured in the cast of Cyrano de Burger Shack are F. Michael Haynie (Wicked) as Cyrano, Julia Mattison (Godspell) as Roxanne, and Michael Campayno (Sound of Music Live) as Christian, as well as Ashley Kate Adams (La Cage aux Folles), Trista Dollison (Avenue Q), Rebecca LaChance (Beautiful), Ellyn Marie Marsh (Kinky Boots), Shina Ann Morris (Cinderella), Jeremy Morse (Papermill's Oliver!), and Alex Wyse (Lysistrata Jones). The music director /arranger is Meg Zervoulis.

Kean Department of Theatre to Host Rock Musical Audition Workshop, 12/7

Kean University's Department of Theatre will host a Rock Musical Audition Workshop with actress Sheri Sanders, author of Rock the Audition: How to Prepare For and Get Cast in Rock Musicals, and Meg Zervoulis, music director for Kean's upcoming production of In The Heights, this Saturday, December 7th from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The workshop will take place in the Little Theatre, located in Kean's University Center at 1000 Morris Avenue. Admission is $25.00 for the general public, and free for current Kean students with I.D. Those wishing to participate in (rather than observe) the master class are asked to prepare a 16-32 bar selection of a rock song in one of the following styles: Motown, '70s folk/rock, disco, '80s pop/rock, contemporary pop/rock, or "faeries" (Regina Spektor, Rufus Wainwright, etc.).

In 2013, the choir performed for more than 15,000 people across the state including appearances at the New Jersey State House, Best of Morris-Essex Festival, Patriot's Theater in Trenton, NJ Pride in Asbury Park, numerous street fairs and the main stage at Paper Mill Playhouse. NYMF Announces Additional Concerts, Talkbacks & Workshops; Tickets Now On Sale

Completing the programming for the 10th annual New York Musical Theatre Festival, NYMF announced several additional concerts, a series of educational workshops, and a "Musicals on Television" screening series in partnership with the Paley Center for Media. This year's Festival will begin July 8th and continue through July 28th. Single tickets are currently on sale.

Paper Mill Playhouse hosted its largest fundraising event of the year, The 75th Anniversary Gala, on May 10th, 2013. The 75th Anniversary Gala celebrated Paper Mill's legacy as a world-class producer of theater and its role as a pioneer in arts education for three-quarters of a century. The evening offered dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions and entertainment by students from Paper Mill Playhouse's arts education programs, The Eddie Bruce Band, and headliner Jeremy Jordan, star of Broadway's Newsies and NBC's Smash. Kean's Department of Theatre Presents HAIRSPRAY, Beginning 2/22

Almost twenty-five years to the day John Waters' iconic film was released, the Kean Department of Theatre will present the Tony Award-winning musical adaptation of Hairspray from Friday, February 22nd to Saturday, March 2nd in Kean University's Wilkins Theatre. Featuring music by Mark Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Mr. Shaiman, and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, Hairspray is based on Mr. Waters' popular 1988 comedy of the same name, and received its Broadway premiere on August 15, 2002. Hairspray ran for nearly six-and-a-half years on Broadway (over 2,500 performances), and collected an unprecedented thirteen Tony Award nominations in 2003, going on to win in eight categories (including Best Musical), the most wins by any production nominated that year. It has subsequently toured throughout the United States and received several high-profile international productions, including a successful run in London's West End in 2008 that garnered a record eleven Laurence Olivier Award nominations, ultimately winning four awards (including Best New Musical). In 2007, a second feature film adaptation of Hairspray - based on the original film and Broadway musical - was released, starring John Travolta and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Paper Mill Playhouse has just announced the creation of The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir. The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir is a tuition-free, audition based, performance show choir that stems from Paper Mill Playhouse's award-winning Arts Education and Outreach programs. The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir will act as ambassadors to Paper Mill Playhouse with an array of performance opportunities throughout the community and beyond. The choir will consist of 18 to 24 singer/dancers between the ages of 16 and 22. Auditions for this special ensemble will take place at Paper Mill Playhouse, 22 Brookside Drive in Millburn, NJ on Wednesday, February 6th at 8:30pm. Age appropriate students auditioning for Paper Mill Playhouse's Summer Musical Theater Conservatory will have the option to be considered for the show choir at their scheduled audition. Call-back auditions will be held on Paper Mill's campus on Sunday, February 10th at 8:00pm.

SECONDARY IMPACT, a play with dance, will have an industry only invited rehearsal on Thursday, March 15 in NYC. Conceived and choreographed by JoAnn M. Hunter (ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER), the piece has music by David Dabbon (SONDHEIM AND SONDHEIM), book by Christine Toy Johnson (TRANSCENDING -THE WAT MISAKA STORY), and is directed by Tony-award winning actress, Michele Pawk. The cast includes Tony Award nominated actress Charlotte D'Amboise (A CHORUS LINE, CHICAGO), Philip Michael Baskerville (THE PRODUCERS, CATS), Brian O'Brien (CHICAGO), Deidre Goodwin (SILENCE: THE MUSICAL, A CHORUS LINE), Miquel Jarquin-Moreland ("Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close"), Dharon Jones, Kristine Bendul, Colin Bradbury, Todd Burnsed, Lisa Gajda, Liz Ramos, and Ryan Worsing.
