CHRP Raises $140,000, Awards Dorrance and Young with JUBA!

The Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP), which fosters social reconciliation through American tap and contemporary percussive arts in world-class, innovative performance, education and outreach programs, hosted its 26th Jubalee Gala November 4 at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Chicago, 220 E. Chicago Ave., Chicago. Attended by nearly 250 people, the event raised more than $140,000 from a combination of ticket sales, sponsorships, a paddle raise, a raffle and contributions.
Auditorium Theatre Launches ADMIT ONE Program

The Auditorium Theatre launches ADMIT ONE, a new initiative that provides community groups with the opportunity to experience music and dance at the National Historic Landmark. The ADMIT ONE program covers tickets, as well as transportation costs to and from the theatre, to underserved Chicagoland after-school and neighborhood groups and social service agencies. In addition, some groups will experience pre-show engagements and in-community residencies organized by the Auditorium Theatre's Creative Engagement Department.

The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) and Allstate Insurance Company announced today that they will present the second 'Rising Star' youth award to Joshlyn Camille Lomax during the third-annual Fifth Star Awards on Wednesday, September 14 at 7pm-at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. The award celebrates the achievements of Chicago youth demonstrating promise and career aspirations in the arts. Lomax, a student at CPS' Chicago Academy for the Arts (ChiArts), was selected from a pool of nominees submitted by the public and several Chicago high school arts programs.
