THE DEVIL'S BALL Set for Auditorium Theatre Tonight

The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University's Auxiliary Board brings 'Old Chicago' back to the National Historic Landmark Theatre with the fifth annual The Devil's Ball, tonight, Oct. 2 from 7:30 - 11 p.m. The lobby of the iconic Auditorium Theatre is the backdrop for this unique gathering for its 300 expected guests. Revelers are treated to fabulous food, entertainment, theatre tours and more, as they raise funds and generate awareness for the preservation of the Auditorium Theatre as well as the Auditorium's diverse educational programming.  This year's new addition is a surprise live performance. Tickets are $65 through Today, Sept. 18 at midnight; $75 through Thursday, Oct. 1 at midnight and are available online at  AuditoriumTheatre.org. Tickets are also available at the door for $85 (cash only.) The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University announces Executive Director Brett Batterson has accepted the role of president and chief executive officer of the Memphis Development Foundation (MDF). The foundation operates The Orpheum, consisting of the Orpheum Theatre and the Halloran Centre for Performing Arts & Education.

After gracing some of the world's most renowned stages, classically trained singer Branden James makes his return to Chicago this fall, tonight, Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. on the Auditorium Theatre's historic stage, 50 E. Congress Parkway.

 The Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP), celebrating 25 years of creating community through American tap and contemporary percussive arts in world-class, innovative performance, education and outreach programs, welcomed 10-time Tony Award winner Tommy Tune at its 25th Anniversary Jubalee Gala. This special evening, hosted by WGN's Dean Richards, took place July 30 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, 220 E. Chicago Ave., Chicago. Attended by 270 people, the event raised $212,000 from a combination of ticket sales, silent and live auction proceeds, table sponsorships and individual and corporate contributions.

Auditorium Theatre's Creative Engagement Department Sets Summer Community Initiatives

Closing out the celebration of the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University's 125th Anniversary Season, the Auditorium's Creative Engagement Department announces community initiatives that will continue through the entire summer. The award-winning summer camp "Hands Together, Heart to Art" ("HTHTA") returns for the 11th year July 6 - 31, allowing children ages 7-14 who have experienced the loss of one or both parents the opportunity to use the performing arts to encourage communication, foster emotional growth and provide young people with the consolation of friendship and compassion from their peers and instructors. The theatre will also introduce the new "Brave Face Project," a devised play created to shine light on women's roles in society with performances June 26 - 28 in the Katten/Landau Studio. In a continuing effort to encourage young talent, the Auditorium's "Made in Chicago" Summer Dance Intensive invites dancers (ages 11-18) to take part in a unique opportunity to train with some of the best professional dancers in the city June 29 - July 3 at the Auditorium.

Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks 2015 Lineup Announced

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST), the City of Chicago, Chicago Park District and Boeing partner to present the annual citywide summer tradition, Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks. This summer, 24 performances of Shakespeare's Greatest Hits travel to 17 neighborhood parks across Chicago, FREE FOR ALL, July 19-August 16, 2015. Shakespeare's memorable characters come to life in a unique and surprising mash-up of scenes from his most celebrated plays. From Hamilton Park and Garfield Park Conservatory to Washington Park and Gage Park, Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks is the single largest professional urban tour of a Shakespearean production, activating communities and giving Chicagoans direct access to their City's cultural treasures.
