NYC's Z100's Jingle Ball 2012 Returns with Star-Studded Annual Concert

Today, Z100, New York's Hit Music Station, announced the much-anticipated, star-studded lineup for its annual holiday concert, Z100's Jingle Ball 2012, presented by Aeropostale on Friday, December 7, at 7:30 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden. To commemorate the pop culture phenomenon, Mayor Bloomberg has issued a special proclamation officially declaring December 7, 2012 Z100's Jingle Ball Day in New York City.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Catherine Zeta-Jones to Present 2012 Mayor’s Awards for Arts and Culture, 10/30

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg will join Catherine Zeta-Jones to present the 2012 Mayor's Awards for Arts and Culture to six individuals and organizations in celebration of their outstanding contributions to New York City's cultural life. The Mayor will also present the NYC Handel Medallion, New York City's highest award for achievement in the arts, to Harvey Lichtenstein. The event, to be held at New York City Center, will feature live performances by leading performing arts organizations, and appearances by special guest artists.

IFP to Develop & Operate New Media Center in NYC

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Media & Entertainment Commissioner Katherine Oliver and New York City Economic Development Corporation President Seth Pinsky today announced that IFP (Independent Filmmaker Project) will develop and operate a new Media Center in New York City.

New York City Department for the Aging Issues Call for Artists for SPARC: SENIORS PARTNERING WITH ARTISTS CITYWIDE

New York City Department for the Aging Commissioner Lilliam Barrios-Paoli and Cultural Affairs Commissioner Kate D. Levin today announced that the Department for the Aging (DFTA) will provide $200,000 in funding to support a second year of SPARC: Seniors Partnering with Artists Citywide, a community arts engagement program that places artists in residence at senior centers across the five boroughs. The new funding will allow the City to build on the success of the 2012 SPARC program, which was supported, in part, by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. During the 2012 program, 50 artists delivered more than 2,000 contact hours of arts programming to hundreds of senior participants at 44 senior centers. Artist residencies for the 2013 SPARC program will take place in select senior centers from January through June 2013.
