The Warner Theatre (John Bonanni, Executive Director) by special arrangement with Theresa Wozunk will present the world premiere of LIBERTY A Monumental New Musical- with book and lyrics by Dana Leslie Goldstein and music by Jon Goldstein. Directed by Igor Goldin, performances of LIBERTY A Monumental New Musical begin June 30th, 2012 and continue through July 14th at the Warner Theatre in Torrington, Connecticut.
Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Media & Entertainment Commissioner Katherine Oliver today joined Steiner Studios Chairman Douglas C. Steiner to open five new soundstages at Steiner Studios in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The new stages, totaling 45,000 square feet, will provide new and expanded opportunities for New Yorkers who work in the film, television and commercial production industry. The Mayor also launched initiatives designed to support and grow the industry, including new grants for training programs that prepare New Yorkers for careers in production and digital fields; a new entertainment component to the City's mini-MBA partnership with NYU's Stern School of Business; and a request for proposals for a "Made in NY" Media Center, which would provide media companies with affordable work space and other services. Mayor Bloomberg and Commissioner Oliver were joined at Steiner Studios by Boardwalk Empire actress Gretchen Mol and the show's writers; Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn; Seth Pinsky, President of the Economic Development Corporation; Robert W. Walsh, Commissioner of the Department of Small Business Services; Alan Fishman, Chairman of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation; and Council Member Domenic M. Recchia, Jr.

Bucks County Playhouse (BCP), the legendary and beloved theater in New Hope, Pennsylvania, announced its official reopening at a press conference today, thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Bridge Street Foundation (Kevin & Sherri Daugherty, Founders; Tanya Cooper, President), Broadway Producer Jed Bernstein, and Bucks County Playhouse Conservancy (Peggy McRae, Founder). A local landmark that has sat empty since late 2010, Bucks County Playhouse has showcased some of Broadway's most recognizable talent since it opened in 1939. NYC & Company, New York City's marketing, tourism and partnership organization, today announced the return of Broadway Week, Off-Broadway Week, Get More NYC and NYC Restaurant Week in January and February 2012. Promotions include hotel offers, two-for-one tickets to Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, and three-course meals at some of the City's top restaurants, with more participating shows and restaurants than ever before. During the first quarter of 2011 New York City welcomed an estimated 11 million visitors. The marketing initiatives aim to increase travel to New York City in January and February during the City's typically slower travel periods and to provide value for both visitors and New Yorkers.
Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment, organizers of Times Square New Year's Eve, today announced that there are 19 days left for the public to submit their New Year's Eve wishes at the Times Square Visitor Center, located on Seventh Avenue between 46th and 47th Streets, or online at www.TimesSquareNYC.org. Wishes collected at the Center and online will become part of the confetti that flutters down at midnight in Times Square on New Year's Eve 2012.
