Living in Sequence Comic Book Art Exhibition Extends Through March 30

After a popular one-month showing, the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation is pleased to announce the extension of the Living in Sequence of comic book artwork exhibition. The exhibition, organized by the Bronx Heroes comic collective, will be on view at the Poe Park Visitor Center through March 30, 2013.

New York City Mayor Bloomberg Set to Proclaim 'MARCH IS CABARET MONTH'

New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg will issue a proclamation declaring March "Cabaret Month" in honor of a tradition long observed by New York City club owners. The proclamation will be presented at the Cabaret Hotline Anniversary Gala at the Laurie Beechman Theater on March 6th. Vocalist Craig Pomranz, who spearheaded the campaign to get the Mayor on board, will accept the document on behalf of the cabaret community including the organizations: Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC), Cabaret Hotline, and The Mabel Mercer Foundation, which presents the annual Cabaret Convention each October.

Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, will.i.am, to Star in Short Film by Code.org

Code.org, a non-profit focused on computer programming education, launched today with a short film starring Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh, Dropbox CEO Drew Houston, will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat, and others.

NYC Parks Restores Carrère Memorial Stairs at Riverside Park

NYC Parks announces the completion of the restoration of the John Merven Carrere Memorial Stairs at Riverside Park, located at West 99th Street and Riverside Drive. The renovations were funded with capital allocations of $375,000 from Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and $300,000 from Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer.

Media Theatre to Honor Jed Bernstein, 2/23

Broadway and Bucks County Playhouse Producing Director Jed Bernstein will be recognized at The Media Theatre Gala on Saturday February 23 for his contribution to the American theatre. He will receive the 2013 Achievement in The Theatre Award during the evening's pre-show ceremony, which will culminate with a performance by Broadway star Justin Guarini.

The snow storm is now underway in New York City, where the Weather Channel is predicting 10 inches or more, as well as wind gusts up to 50 MPH. The heaviest snow totals by Saturday afternoon are expected in New England from coastal Maine to Connecticut, as well as parts of Upstate New York, where one to two feet of snow is expected, and some locations, particularly in coastal New England, may approach, or even exceed three feet storm total snow.

This question, posed by Shen Tei, the good-hearted, penniless and cross-dressing prostitute of Bertolt Brecht's Good Person of Szechwan, is central to the work of The Foundry Theatre. The play's concerns, and the earmarks of the Foundry's new production, make it an ideal offering from the company, which is celebrated for creating memorable theatrical events while pursuing civic inquiry and social justice. The show, starring the singular Taylor Mac as Shen Tei, is directed by Lear deBessonet and features original live music by 'indie rock vaudevillians' (SPIN) Cesar Alvarez and The Lisps.
