YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX To Present Annual Gala and Finals At Lincoln Center

World's largest student ballet scholarship audition - YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX – returns to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center to host its 2018 finals week in New York City. The week of ballet festivities will include the YAGP Final Round with performances by the world's most talented ballet students on April 18th, and the critically-acclaimed “Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow” Gala on April 19th.

Norte Maar, a committed international think-tank dedicated to the creation, promotion, and presentation of collaborations in the disciplines of the visual, literary, and the performing arts, presents the sixth season of Counterpointe, a curated performance series features new work by women choreographers for pointe. Seven women choreographers have been paired with 7 NY metro-based women visual artists to collaborate and create both a new physical and visual work by each - investigating the process of creation, inspiration and development. The annual series will be presented April 13-15 at The Actors Fund Arts Center in downtown Brooklyn.

Clarice Jensen Celebrates Debut Solo Album With Ambient Church Concert

Cellist Clarice Jensen, artistic director of the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME), releases her debut solo album, For this from that will be filled, worldwide on Miasmah Recordings on April 6, 2018. She celebrates the release with a concert featuring music from the album presented by the Ambient Church Series on April 7, 2018 at 8pm (doors 7pm), at Bushwick Methodist Church (1139 Bushwick Ave.). The Ambient Church concert also celebrates the release of electronic artist Christina Vantzou's new album, No. 4, and includes the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME), Steve Hauschildt, Deradoorian, John Also Bennett, and C. Lavender.

BWW Review: VIVALDI'S THE FOUR SEASONS: A REIMAGINING, Sam Wanamaker Playhouse

The final new production in The Winter Selection at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse is a daring masterclass in puppetry from Gyre & Gimble. They have used Max Richter's recompositions of Vivaldi's classic 'Four Seasons' concertos as a basis to tell an original story about 'life, death and renewal', focusing on the human angle rather than nature, taking the audience on an adventure with them. It will play alongside Emma Rice's The Little Matchgirl and Other Happier Tales to close the season.

The Wallis Presents Daniel Hope-Zurich Chamber Orchestra

Traditional and contemporary versions of Vivaldi's iconic "The Four Seasons" are juxtaposed in a distinctive program by the acclaimed Zurich Chamber Orchestra, led by Music Director Daniel Hope, who serves as violin soloist in both works, presented by the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, March 22, 2018, 7:30 pm.  The concert includes Vivaldi's classic cycle of the famous Baroque violin concertos followed by Vivaldi Recomposed, Max Richter's contemporary minimalist take on the masterpiece.  Hope, "among the best in the world" (The Observer), also conducts/performs Fabian Muller's Intermezzo III "Winter" for Violin and Ensemble

Wexford Festival Opera Announces Details Of 2018 Programme

Ahead of the opening of priority booking for Friends of the Festival on Saturday, 24 March, details of the full programme for the 67th Wexford Festival Opera are announced. Continuing its tradition of presenting the 'best operas rarely seen', this year's Festival includes a verismo double-bill, a European premiere and a classic Wexford offering involving kidnapping, murder, arson and a posh New York dinner party that doesn't quite go to plan! All this plus three daytime ShortWorks operas, concerts, recitals, theatre and talks. 62 public events over the autumn 17-day period.

Cellist Clarice Jensen Releases Debut Solo Album

Cellist Clarice Jensen, artistic director of the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME), releases her debut solo album, For this from that will be filled, worldwide on Miasmah Recordings on April 6, 2018. Building on a long and romantic tradition of solo cello repertoire, Jensen expands and confuses the familiar sound of solo cello through the use of effects pedals, multi-tracking, and tape loops recorded at variable speeds.

Zürich Chamber Orchestra Presents VIVALDI'S THE FOUR SEASONS — THEN AND NOW

Classic and contemporary will meet in concert Saturday, March 24, at 8 p.m., in the Virginia G. Piper Theater at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. That's when the Zurich Chamber Orchestra performs Vivaldi's famous cycle of violin concertos, The Four Seasons, along with a recent take on that famous score, Vivaldi Recomposed, a rewrite of The Four Seasons by German-born British composer Max Richter (1966 - ). Zurich Chamber Orchestra music director Daniel Hope will serve as violin soloist for both pieces.

BAM and Wordless Music Present Paul Thomas Anderson's PHANTOM THREAD with Live Score

Nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Score, Paul Thomas Anderson's Phantom Thread starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Vicky Krieps, and Lesley Manville, will be screened at BAM for one night only with Jonny Greenwood's (Radiohead) live score. New York's Wordless Music Orchestra will team up with principals from London Contemporary Orchestra, who recorded Greenwood's original score for Nonesuch Records.

Francisco Fullana Announces Recording Debut and CD Launch Event

Spanish violinist Francisco Fullana's debut recording will be released on March 17, 2018 on the Orchid Classics label. Entitled Through the Lens of Time, the recording brings together four modern perspectives reimagining the Baroque tradition: a dialogue that prompts both composers and performers to explore musical giants of the past and place them in their own lives.
