Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent.
Below, BroadwayWorld sends a fond farewell to those who passed away in 2014.
Chicago Opera Theater to Present Tobias Picker's THERESE RAQUIN

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) presents the Chicago Premiere of Tobias Picker's “Thérèse Raquin” February 20-28, 2015 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance (205 E. Randolph Street). Chicago Opera Theater's production of “Thérèse Raquin” will be conducted by COT's General Director Andreas Mitisek and directed veteran opera director Ken Cazan. With a sensual score that mirrors the lovers' turbulent affair, this tale of torrid romance and scandal features a libretto by critically-acclaimed writer Gene Scheer. Tickets are now on sale at chicagooperatheater.org for $35-$125. Press are invited to attend the Friday, February 20 performance.
South Bend Civic Theatre to Present LOST IN YONKERS in January

South Bend Civic Theatre presents Neil Simon's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning comedy Lost in Yonkers January 9-25, 2015 in the Warner Theatre, 403 N Main Street in South Bend. Hailed as "the best play Neil Simon ever wrote" - New York Post, Lost in Yonkers tells the funny and poignant story of Jay and Arty, two teenage boys in 1942. When their recently widowed father has to take a travelling sales job, he leaves his sons to their Grandmother in Yonkers. The boys find life challenging and bewildering around their eccentric relatives: strict German immigrant Grandma Kurnitz, child-like Aunt Bella, and mobster Uncle Louie. Simon's play explores the hardship, pain, humor and love of these richly drawn characters.
