Up next in First Stage's Virtual Season of Plays is ESCAPE FROM PELIGRO ISLAND - A CREATE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE PLAY, written by award-winning, internationally renowned children's playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer (THE SNOW, 2015 and ANTARCTICA, WI, 2018) and directed by First Stage Artistic Director Jeff Frank.

 Next up in First Stage's 2020/21 Virtual Season of Plays is THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA, one of Shakespeare's earliest plays. This adventurous, romantic comedy directed by Marcella Kearns has it all - love, betrayal, hidden identities, a gang of gentlemen outlaws - even a double wedding!

Strawdog Theatre Company's is pleased to welcome seven new ensemble members for 2020, including: Paul Cook, Leah Hummel, Yeaji Kim, Alyssa Maldonado, Karissa Murrell Myers, Manuel Ortiz and Johnard Washington.

SAYT’s Animation series will include three short cartoons, voiced by young actors ages 5-15! Actors who fall into multiple show age ranges can submit auditions for multiple productions. Because this production is digital, SAYT is casting young actors nationwide! 

Milwaukee Rep has announced the continuation of the Professional Training Institute (PTI), an advanced actor training program for students in 9-12 grade. The class of 2020/21 will consist of 15 students from 13 different high schools.

Waterwell has now partnered with organizations nationwide to present The Flores Exhibits: Conversations around the Country, a series of virtual events in which the videos spark conversations about U.S. immigration policy.

The Marquette Symphony Orchestra will present an outdoor performance, a?oeSymphony in the Parka?? on Sunday afternoon. The performance will be streamed on Facebook Live at 3:30pm on Sunday, September 20.

Collaboraction, Chicago's theater for social change, has announced We Still Dream: The 5th Annual Peacebook and Utopian Ball, a merger of the company's annual fall live performance festival and gala into a into a unique one-month virtual campaign, October 17 to November 14, 2020.

The official trailer and poster for FAITH BASED, the irreverent comedy from Director Vincent Masciale (Fear, Inc) written by Luke Barnett has arrived. Barnett and Tanner Thomason star in the film alongside Margaret Cho, David Koechner, with Lance Reddick, and Jason Alexander.

“Extra” has announced that former “Bachelorette” star Rachel Lindsay will join the Daytime Emmy Award-winning entertainment news show when it premieres its 27th season on September 8th. 

Due to the increasingly complex challenges of COVID-19, Milwaukee Rep will move the previously announced 2020/21 Season in its entirety to 2021/22. In its place will be the 2020/21 Season Reset starting with a one-actor version of A Christmas Carol in the Quadracci Powerhouse featuring Lee E. Ernst in December.

Sonia Friedman Productions today announced that Nicole Raquel Dennis will play the role of Effie White in the first ever UK tour of Dreamgirls.

The smash hit production of Dreamgirls is gearing up to hit the road for its UK tour. Today the production announced that Nicole Racquel Dennis will lead the cast as Effie White.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts is celebrating International Women's Month on Saturday, March 21 on the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza with a FREE event where you can meet inspiring female creators and indulge your own DIY spirit at Rock, Paper, Scissors: ¡DAMAS! Live music pulsating from the Argyros Plaza stage will provide an energetic soundtrack to inspire your creativity. The pop-rock sisters of the Sledge Grits Band will kick off the afternoon, followed by Go Betty Go and their punk rock, rough and tumble sound. Between sets, join us for an open forum conversation with several prominent SoCal women artists and innovators about creativity and what drives them. Try your hand at some art of your own with a colorful mixed media collage workshop led by local artist Trinh Mai. And don't forget to stop by the Segerstrom Center booth and create a pin with our special button-making machine! While you take a break from art-making, enjoy drink specials and tasty bites from George's Café.

Further venues and dates have been announced for Dreamgirls' first ever UK tour. Following on from performances in 2020 in Bristol, Milton Keynes, Blackpool, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Birmingham, Dreamgirls will continue to tour in 2021 to Sunderland, Hull, Nottingham, Liverpool, Norwich, Canterbury and Leeds.

Milwaukee Repertory Theater will honor 12 Milwaukee SHEroes during the run of Eclipsed, March 3 -29, 2020. A Milwaukee SHEro is a woman* of color who exemplifies the values of dedication to one's community, collaboration and sisterhood. Milwaukee Rep received over 100 nominations, which an outside selection committee including Milwaukee Rep employees and community members, picked the following 12 candidates honored as Milwaukee SHEroes. All 12 women are doing their part to better the Milwaukee community.

THE LEGEND OF ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS, a family-friendly, fun world premiere musical, comes to First Stage this March. Based on the bestselling book by Drew Daywalt and illustrated by Adam Rex, First Stage Playwright in Residence John Maclay wrote the book and lyrics with Eric Nordin, also doing music and lyrics. First Stage favorite Kelly Doherty, (outstanding as Miss Trunchbull in last season's hit MATILDA The Musical), will be making her First Stage directing debut with this production.

Disney's Aladdin has announced new principal cast members ahead of the company's sixth anniversary. Ainsley Melham, star of the original Australian production of Aladdin, will return to the title role on Broadway in March. The exact date will be announced in the near future. Melham previously played the role on Broadway in 2019. Rodney Ingram will re-join the Broadway company to play the role starting Monday, February 17th until Melham's return. Marina Pires (On Your Feet! National Tour) will make her Broadway debut as Jasmine.

With friends like The Plastics, who needs enemies? That's the basic premise for the surprisingly fresh and sometimes scathingly funny high school musical MEAN GIRLS written by Emmy Award winner Tina Fey based on her 2004 hit film. Treading the familiar teen angst territory of cafeterias, locker rooms, gymnasiums and shopping malls, Fey puts her characteristically satirical spin on the tensions between the cool kids, the athletes, the math wizards and theater nerds all vying for allegiance from Cady, an innocent newly arrived from the African savanna where her parents worked and home schooled her with only animals for companions.
