BWW Reviews: Stunning Creative Choices and Broadway Cast Lead ACT's A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC

Taking his inspiration from the summer solstice and a turn of the twentieth century Sweden setting, director Mark Lamos gives Sondheim's A Little Night Music an "erotic" staging at San Francisco's American Conservatory Theatre . A Little Night Music features breathtaking scenic design from Riccardo Hernandez and stunning costumes designed by Candice Donnelly. Audiences leave with plenty of material worthy of hours of discussion.

Margot Harley, Co-Founder of The Acting Company, to Retire

 Margot Harley, who co-founded The Acting Company with John Houseman in 1972, will step down as its Producer effective the end of this year.  The Acting Company began with the first graduating class of Juilliard's Drama Division, which included Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, David Schramm and David Ogden Stiers.  "They were classically trained, superbly talented and had worked together for four years," stated Ms. Harley.

A.C.T. Extends A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC

Due to popular demand, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) has announced the extension of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's rapturous and seductive musical, A Little Night Music. Tickets are now on sale through Sunday, June 21.

Actor Richard Kline, best known for his role in the classic sitcom, Three's Company, will return to performing in Connecticut at the Westport Country Playhouse's upcoming production of And A Nightingale Sang. Kline has never performed at the Playhouse, but he has ties to Connecticut.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) presents Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's rapturous and seductive musical, A Little Night Music. Filled with Sondheim's signature wit and some of his most gorgeous melodies -- including the beloved and haunting treasure 'Send in the Clowns' -- A Little Night Music will feature Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba (Bullets Over Broadway, Contact) as Desiree Armfeldt; Tony Award nominee Emily Skinner (Billy Elliot: The Musical, Side Show) as Charlotte; and Patrick Cassidy (42nd Street, Sondheim's Assassins) as Federick Egerman.

Celebrating the Playhouse's 85th season, the comedy will run tonight, May 5 - 23, directed by Penny Metropulos.

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for George Bernard Shaw's Arms and the Man, joining celebrated director Jessica Stone, who recently made her Globe debut with Christopher Durang's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Shaw's romantic comedy, which continues the Globe's 80th Anniversary festivities as part of the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration, will run May 9 - June 14, 2015 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run May 9 through 13. Opening night is Thursday, May 14 at 8:00 p.m.

Darko Tresnjak to Direct World Premiere of REAR WINDOW in Connecticut

Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak announced today two additions to the Hartford Stage 2015-16 Season, including the world premiere of Rear Window, adapted for the stage by Keith Reddin, and directed by Darko Tresnjak. The play is based on the same short story-"Rear Window" by Cornell Woolrich-that inspired the Alfred Hitchcock film, a 1954 Academy Award nominee.

Westport Country Playhouse to Open 2015 Season with Block Party

Westport Country Playhouse will host a "2015 Season Kick-off Block Party," on Saturday, April 11, 4 to 7 p.m., offering a fun, party-like atmosphere with food trucks, games and activities, prizes, special ticket offers, and a look at the Playhouse's "backstage experience."
